So as it says I got out for the first test run in my new summit titan. 1) holy awesome. 2) yes I feel safe! 3) very comfy 4) soo glad I went with the titan.it may feel huge on my back and when looking at it. But man does the platform feel small once your up there. Now the questions..... I put molle straps on. In the same fashion as the original straps. However I may need to move them down farther. Because man does it hurt to scrape your leg on those tree grabbers. It sits low enough that I can't step over small branches etc. Is there a preferred way to pack these? Grabbers up or down? I had a hard time getting "level" once up. Are these angles okay? Tips? I made it about 18 feet up. Got about 8 feet when I realized I hadn't tethered the 2 pieces together. Man the images that flashed through my head... I quickly attached them.... I'll never make that mistake again. The third hand straps.... Do you all leave them attached 24/7? I didn't bring them with me this time. I was only able to go up about 4 inches per lift. Using the sit and climb method as it felt safest... I assume that as I get more comfortable I'll be able to get more out of each sequence.... Any tips? Any tips or advice for a new climber? **** yes I I used my harness and tree strap the entire time... Definitely a bit tedious but I adjusted to the process quickly. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

Started with a regular stone 2 sided... Then sharpmaker... Now the work sharp... I looooovvvve the work sharp. Once you have that edge u only need.to come back for a few swipes on the fine strap to bring it back. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

So I am on the search for warm gloves this year. Last year I used a combination of army wool green liner gloves and then a set of thinsulate 150g wool flip top gloves. Where flipping the mitten exposed your bare fingers. Or rather exposed my green army liners. This system works simply because of the wool insulating when wet. However towards the end of the season I cramming into my pockets and generally had freezing hands.. So I have been looking into a new glove large enough to allow the use of the wool liners and also have ahead insulation on them. As of right now I've been to every local store and spent time online and I'm not finding any 3xl gloves with suitable insulation. And when I have found them they are 50$ which is a bit more then I'd like to spend. So I've started looking into a muff... Using a chemical warmer inside.. Anyone have any experience with a muff? Recommended? Know of a quality glove in 3xl? In realtree preferably Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

So in trying to find a Calc for it I found a long thread on archery talk.... Bottoming is that for my purposes and the distances I shoot. It would be a waste. And the difference would typically be less than a yard or 1/2 yard. Thanks! Glad I got the basic one. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

So after bribing the wife with a new 2in1 laptop after cashing out my meager 401k from my old job... I got clearance for a climber. Ordered: Summit titan Molle backpack straps 3rd hand stabilizers Summit bow holder 3rd hand gear hanger tree wrap Hunter safety syst. X1 bowhunter harness Bushnell Michael Waddell rangefinder. And some house crap. Anyone have experience with the his bowhunter harness? Seems legit to me. Fits with room for extra clothes. Do I need a carabiner for it? Or will my summit harness have what I need? The rangefinder. No angle adjustment. Is this a big deal? Is there a way to compensate for this? Thanks for all the help in deciding on a stand etc! Backcountry navigator.. You download caltopo maps to it at home... Then run yourbphone in airplane mode with GPS on... No need for cell service. Record tracks. Mark, title, and add a photo to waypoints. I took an old smart phone and use this app on it only. It's like having a standalone GPS. And I can turn off my normal phone to save battery. Thanks for the advice and 2c all!. Goliath it is... Now to budget the clearing of the 401k and some minor roof repairs before winter. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

No advice on the api eh? I'm leaning towards the summit simply based.on their long term history. And a reputation of quality. And a 5 year warranty doesn't hurt. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

I looked at hangers and sticks... But to be honest I hate ladders and after checking gout the sticks at various stores in person. I'm just not comfortable with them. Those linked "extreme" treestand are.interesting.... The treewalkers look nice. Very spartan Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

I'm looking to pick up a climber and have about $300 to work with. I am 6'3 and bounce between 280-300 lbs...wear a size 13 boot. Looking to get a 350lb rated climber... Kind of torn between the api quest. http://www.apioutdoors.com/products/acl605-a-quest-climbing-treestand.html And the summit goliath. http://www.summitstands.com/summit-goliath-sd-climbing-treestand-mossy-oakr-camo Bass pro has the quest on-sale right now. For 279. The summit runs about 320. The seat for the api looks warmer. Yet the platform on the summit is larger. With the big of Itasca on those 13size boots feel more like 15s. Key wants: safety. Weight, comfort. ****I know that I need a FAS harness and it's the final word in safety**** I read some quality concerns and possible safety issues with api. But it was a couple years ago... Purpose: bow. Rifle. Muzzleloader... I have no land of my own so I am constantly moving between public land. And friends small property and another buddy's massive property... None of which has stands. My thought is to get a good climber that will last over 5 years. As I won't be moving for at least 3 years. Thoughts...? **** on a side note.... I am open to lightweight easy setup 2 man blind I can setup and take down each hunt. That last more than one or two seasons and accommodate 2 chairs... For 2 adults or myself and a kid. Arrows are penetrating well. 20 yards broadheads. 30 yards aren't so hot more like a 10 inch group.. Mostly due to me I'd guess. I'm going to restrict myself to 20 yard shots for the season. Then get a new sight and set of hunting arrows for next season. I'll have the shop tune accordingly. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

Thanks!.I'll throw a few more target shots after todays session Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

Yes it is overwhelming lol. I checked the rates for the arrow. Looks like 100grain is right where I need to be weight wise. This old sigh has major windage adjustment. And then minor or micro adjustments. Then a decent elevation adjustment. And then pin elevation adjustment. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

No longer adjusting the rest for clearance for the broadheads..... Honestly I'm done with the ramcats... I Dont like the mechanical design... I'm sure I got a bad batch. But it's soured me nonetheless with a blade falling off on the first shot.I know that longer arrows are needed to clear a larger diameter broadhead. Just isn't in the wallet. Thanks for the go ahead on the smaller Bhs. I appreciate the input. Just don't have anymore cash to sink into this for a while. I'm sure the local shops will charge me to "tune". When im feel i can do the majority of it with a small level and square and trial and error. Not as well as someone with years of experience. But everyone has to start somewhere.... I'm a break it, take it apart and fix it kind of guy. Except small engines... I stay away from small engines. To me my field points are as dialed as they can be with my bad vision and I'm sure the groups will improve with time and practice of form. So should I move my sight (micro adjustments to the right) to move the poi for the Bhs to the left? Or just a micro adjustment of the rest to the left?. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

It's basically exactly 90*. Dec states must be 90* or more. How's the rest look? Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

The backside of the broadhead is just past 90* on the good side.. Still very close to being "barbed" I'd say.. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
