DEC is investigating reports of sick and dead deer in the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, NY. To diagnose the cause of mortally, tissue samples are being collected at the DEC's Wildlife Pathology Unit and sent to the Cornell University Animal Health Diagnostic Center for diagnostic testing. While test results are pending, the DEC does not consider this as a human health issue at this time. DEC is requesting residents in the Rockland County area to refrain from approaching any sick deer or deer behaving abnormally, and to please report these animals to the DEC Regional Wildlife Office in New Paltz by calling (845) 256-3098. DEC is taking and testing tissue samples....I see that they are also having a issue down there over a land development....hhhmmmmm :-\ ...All this is on the DEC web site This post has been promoted to an article

That's the point NYhunter...they never asked for ID before now and besides that.... the clerks would give out multiple ppls tags to one person...."picking them up for family members"...Like I said...makes you wonder -
Thanks guys......kinda proud I'll admit..all plans in my head and a lot of cutting by hand...not bad for an old lady...lol ...The stand will have a view of the field in pic and it is surrounded by some mature red oak.....I kicked 30+ turkey out of the sorghum in upper field so I'm stoked about turkey hunting near the sorghum where this stand is...should be good for yote and fox as well...and not far from the bear tracks I folllowed this winter ;D

CHC....yes I have all the 1/4 in plexiglass sheets ready to cut and I am using J molding.(metal) as the the slide rails....that will be installed on the out side...the glass will have tinting like in my other raised blind and the edges will have a rubber gasket to deaden the sliding sound...I've decided to use layers of card board boxes as insulation under the luan(sp) for the inside walls(free)...the floor will have 2in hard board(?) insulation that will be held inplace by card board stapled to the 2x4 studs

Is trichinosis a common disease? Where can I get more information about trichinosis? Trichinosis At A Glance What is trichinosis? What are symptoms of trichinosis? Trichinosis (also termed trichinellosis, trichiniasis, or trichinelliasis) is a disease caused by parasites, called roundworms (Trichinella spp.), that can infect and damage many body tissues. Although the parasites can pass through the intestinal tract and other tissues, muscle tissues are where the majority of them persist. Trichinosis is usually characterized by two phases; the initial phase (intestinal) of abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and nausea that begins one to two days after ingestion and the second phase (muscle) of muscle aches, itching, fever, chills, and joint pains that begins about two to eight weeks after ingestion. What causes trichinosis? Trichinosis is caused by Trichinella species (also termed parasitic nematodes, intestinal worms, and roundworms) that initially enter the body when meat containing the Trichinella cysts (roundworm larvae) is eaten. For humans, undercooked or raw pork and pork products, such as pork sausage, has been the meat most commonly responsible for transmitting the Trichinella parasites. It is a food-borne infection and not contagious from one human to another unless infected human muscle is eaten. However, almost any carnivore (meat eater) or omnivore (eats meat and plants for food) can both become infected and, if eaten, can transmit the disease to other carnivores and omnivores. For example, undercooked or raw bear meat can contain livable Trichinella cysts. Therefore, if humans, dogs, pigs, rats, or mice eat the meat, they can become infected. In rare instances, larvae that inadvertently reaches cattle feed can infect cattle. There are six species that are known to infect humans:

I was a a village office....they also asked for my drivers license which I do like...for I know at a lot of the local clerks guys go in and pick up tags for several different ppl in their families...which isn't suppose to happen.......The out of state guys had their cousin pick up their tags for years...I often wondered if they were picking up instate tags while these guys lived in Vermont : -
OK did I here him say you could eat pork loin raw?!!!!...ya if you want a good life threatening case of worms ???

We just went through the same thing...I said to the clerk I gave the state all the info and my address hasn't changed!....sorry no can do...MrB said scr-w it I'll just get my reg tags...by the way they sent both our life time licenses to the same address as last year...so we understand your frustation : -
personally I think they are great....no need to trip the IR and excellent way to catch those nasty trespassers...these cams have a wider angled lens and long shot range and if you have lane ways or logging roads..... these types cross..... all you need to do is set it up at the head of such an area and get a good long shot on it
-
No Jennifer your not....Finally got Mr. B out turkey hunting this spring...he deer hunts but rarely shoots any thing...usually find him back at camp cooking...which is something I never get him to do at home... : ...lol...looking for great buck and signs doe tags over

Not lately ...I've been wild busy and our house pump and wire is all messed up...electrician arrives in an hour..plus surgery last Wednesday and now more test this Wednesday...the garden mowing..yada yada yada ...but when I get her done I'll post any pics I've taken.....geez that 3/4 in plywood is heavy and not the easiest to nail up 6ft lengths 14 ft up off the ground alone...no wonder I had originally planned on the thin stuff :-\ took me for ever it seems...all lower pieces now..much easier
-
Went down to work on the blind this a.m....got most of walls up...at least the hard ones...now need filler piece in around windows and because dumpster diving got me 3/4 in outdoor plywood ...instead of the luan(sp) I painted for the walls ...I have to paint again and the luan(SP)can be used as inside walls and I'll add more insulation...got me behind but better construction.....Any how ...the corn grew 2ft and has tasseled and is silking up....next door neighbor came over to see the"Condo" ...and said he couldn't believe how fast and how much the corn shot up after the last few thunder storms....he said one day he could see over it ...I think from his deck...next not ;D ... He thought the veiw from inside the blind was awesome so I'm happy....there are huge piles of manure...all around the blind...after rains I really can't tell if it's deer or bear.....I know what bear smells like so I'm thinking deer...need to buy tint for the windows and cut them and put the flashing around the corners to seal before painting and install the J moulding window tracks

looking good!...

All my stands are loosened after hunting...then I go in about now and retighten check for rust and bring a tire thumper with me ...I tap the side rails and rungs ....you'll get a different sound on a section that's not good...all my stands have a heavy chain that attaches them to the tree as well as 2 straps...one at the top and one mid section above stablizer bar...every other year they get taken down wire brushed ..primed and repainted....when new I take and spray the inside of the tubing with rust resistant paint as well as all the nuts and bolts and especially the welds
