wdswtr...God bless you for seeing the problem straight up...It has the possibility of leading to a real problem down the road...They are have a big problem managing on the whole....I can't see them fairing well with this suggested micro management..... So I was just about to post this...it was an E-mail sent ....I thought in response to my calling with opinion...problem is I never commented on ,What he e-mailed, in my call...my call was on safety issues and gun hunting in the middle of bow with no mandatory orange....So this was a blanket response? or are they reading the forums?

Doc I agree with you... my response was to SIT constructive criticism : .....and speaking of the NYS problem specifically.....In this state you can't just look at 1-2 bandaid solutions and think you're curing the illness....the problem goes far beyond Peta or more opportunities in the field...It's an exitus of young and old from a state with rising costs and falling freedoms....This bill is a step forward to fend off further constraints...perhaps...but does not address the under lying and long existing cause to lower hunter #'s

Yes if your area is open to bear hunting ...they just opened our area 2yrs ago...been bow hunting them at camp few several years now...never got one close enough...except when I went to get clothes from truck at 4 a.m. and the bear I went to hunt was standing /leaning on the other side of the truck I've found that they are rather active pre-dawn ...so carry a light and stop frequently to listen...they make a distinctly different sound moving through the woods than deer...kinda like a very lrg raccoon...until they grunt

no rain ...woodland ground looks like a deeply cut jigsaw puzzle....tons of beech with nice meaty nuts and I checked the oak flats...the ground is riddled with pea sized acorns ??? ...my beanss and corn have stopped growing....hhhmmm someone turned of the faucet and did it too tight ...lost 1/4 acre wood land plot to the drought and now even the grass has burnt up...how are you fairing?

hunting numbers are declining in this state for the same reason this state can't keep it's graduating young professionals....it's too expensive to live here and all the good paying jobs are in other states...when they are all leaving don't expect them to come back just to hunt...hunting opportunities is such a small part of such a large equation

As I mentioned BEFORE...anyone truly interested in purchasing land...could contact me and I'd get need info to them which is done in many a classified...as in Craigs list....yep...guys prices are a tad crazy out there...then stick a few hundred a month in taxes on top of a monthly mortgage....I believe that area is a lower tax area then most.

Well you did say pull it and not move...thus the response you received...go figure I'm not putting the link in because of several reasons... 1. The agent has not sold it due to the signs being stolen...most likely by the hunters leasing next door...for the owner has NO intentions of leasing...they apparently have been bothering him...and They have the "brass hardware" to have actually BUILT a tree stand on the property....I don't want to cause any further distress to owner or agent by not having truely interested ppl knowing the where abouts. 2. As stated it's an agents listing ...they just mentioned it and problems to me at a party knowing I frequent hunting chats 3. He doesn't want anyone hunting the place ...or wondering around it with out the agent I know the area ...have scoured every single back road from Richmond to Perkinsville Livonia to Naples and back again while house hunting years ago ...it is a great hunting area thus the place being surrounded buy a few hundred acres of hunt camps...not far from great fishing and I think...not sure a state park...Harriott Hollister Park? I personal would try to bring it down but you know me ...I purchased 24.5 for 10,000 and the timber is worth much more than that but that's what I do...and it's prime hunting with several year round streams...but the price isn't out of line when looking at whats on the market in the general area some listings.............. actually I've been running the realestate #'s from Avon - Ithica for years now and that area for the last several years has run 1500-2000 an acre...

Just heard of this ...it's not far from Hemlock & Canadice lakes...tons of road frontage on 2 roads...ones a dirt road with just 2 homes across the st. and seasonal hunting camp next door...another hunting property that lines the back side....some swamp ...mature pine mixed hard woods and a small open field...great place to build

WNYBH...As I've said SEVERAL times before ...I don't say anything that couldn't be backed up when it comes down to issues of region 8 DEC...as I've also said I'm fully aware that any officials reading my post know exactly who I am...so there is no point in my not telling it like it is..and yes I make SURE I have ppl...and records to back up what I say Now as far as what you think of any decisions I make concerning my land due to DEC decisions...Let me make this as clear as humanly possible ....I don't give a rats behind what you think of me. The above being said ....I'm sure ppl don't want another foolish round of you and I going at it so ..I won't subject them to it once again

Of course I'd have to say they wouldn't have it in writing ...but for the 3x' I have been nearly shot the 1x our daughter the two times the next door neighbor....This has been exactly what was said directly to our faces...when asked to have it written up...and one was a 911 call....they flatly said no.......So I'd conclude IMO....No report...no records for any one to get a hold of ...being able to give a clear picture of how many close calls really happen during NY deer season...by the way not all DEC officers have a "problem" but unfortunately the only one in the reg. 8 area many ppl around here wanted to deal with...because he did his job....retired

You can bet that fees will go up in one scheme or another....seeing that the proposed state budget has wording to raid the conservation fund and the possibility of loosing fed $$$....and sure hunter ##'s will go down....young ppl can't afford the time or $$ and now they want to limit the possibilities at getting deer of THEIR choice ....when they consider every thing..... jobs... taxes and hunting ...why would they not choose to live else where

Had a great time...did some work ....bought some corn and we head to the sons house for food drinks games and displays....got home late woke up early and no hang over...the 4th will be a fine day ..Had a great time But did get singed a bit when a tube tipped over....and I found out I can still duck fast...but not out run a star burst...no worries... it did give me flash backs of Forrest Gump running out of a Vietnam forest as it was blowing up and later saying his bum got stung ??? ...lol but it was my elbow...Oh ya also flashes of that movie where the guy caught his feet on fire to the tune from Scat Man Do...yep I could work at an airport screening station with the patdown I gave my self head to toe ...Hope you all are having a great weekend

Yep figured thats what happened or....the guys that hunt the lease next door had a small card reader and was checking my cams as well.... either way all they had to do is open it up and select delete all if they thought it caught them...all other cams were fine...but in a whole differant area....yes lucky cards and cams were still there but they know I'd have the cops up here...and that would have led right to them and would have seriously put me on a war path...which would lead to my schooling them for the next few years as to why...when walking past a calm hornets nest...you don't poke it with a stick! ..now they're just nats needing a swat...I'll just put the cams up high.... "wiped" is a common term with actually many meanings ...one of which is to destroy....eliminate.... clean or to clear of...as in my hard drive was wiped

I had checked cameras a while ago and they had 20+ pics a piece on the cards...this is every body and their brother are in the area to shoot off fire works and such weekend....went out and found two cameras ...thankfully not stolen...but the pics had been wiped > ...suppose I should be happy they knew enough not to have the cops up here : ...now cams have to have new batteries put in them ...so they'll last a few months way up in the trees angled down...A holes! : I don't know how the one missed the plot watcher...

No when you purchased a life time license the cost should NEVER go up.....that was the whole point of LIFE TIME licenses...was it not?

I don't believe that would be the case when they were purchased in good faith...but that could be decided in a court if it is not specifically stated

heres a ? ...where is the fine print that says once you purchase you license the DEC can change what you hunt for...life time aside for a moment.... IE...say last year I bought a archery and a muzzle loader tag with my reg license...where did it say once purchased the DEC can change the rules and rescind the either or part of those archery/muzzle combo tags?...now yes before or after that season but after the tag is purchased ? Now if there is no such clause ...then they will I think have a legal stink to consider in a class action suit....... for many hunter purchased LIFETIME hunting licenses that stated they would receive said # of tags...for a said amount of money at the time of purchase

Here's what they did...rail roaded a lot of us into buying life time licenses....we're talking several hundreds dollars...and now they are sticking it to us...they already have 0ur money.... Many a year my buck tag goes unfilled and the only deer I see to kill are doe...I'm sorry but I am a meat hunter and it feeds us....Hereditary high cholesterol keeps deer meat as the DR recommended red meat for me to serve...we are not veggies and I get sick of chicken and fish thank you... There are also many years I get a couple of buck and never a chance at a doe....I did not purchase a hunting license just to enjoy the out doors...I live here already...I bought it for the meat...period
