Your right Steve but to answer NY...Yes the common denominator are slob hunters...because I don't hunt camp more than 3-4days days per year...I have put all my efforts into my home property...camp is the family hunting ground were the guys have their co- workers and friends hunt...none of them bow hunt except my son and daughter and non of them besides my self bear or turkey hunt...The neighbors down there watch camp because we have the most rd frontage and they are tired of having their home shot at and all the garbage these ppl throw out when they stop long the road to hunt from their vehicles...they've already lost 3 dogs to these ppl

NYantler ...you can make light of what I say as if it weren't true ...but remember as I stated before ...if it weren't true the ppl that know who is writing this.... would be able to call me on it....so I'd be foolish to lie...ya some times truth is stranger than fiction...you have no idea.....

This is what I got from the sheriffs and state troopers....you need proof of what gun the slugs came from...then the deputy went into detail telling me how far the wading from a slug will travel before falling a way and how to find it and the slug?!... another time the DEC officer had a trooper as a ride along and he never spoke...the DEC officer didn't want to leave his vehicle and said how far back is it?!...Then when I had a dog attack me while hunting my land and I shot from my knee hitting the dog he was with ...the State trooper found the owner...no tickets just a warning and came back to tell me I had to wait at my house for the DEC to come ...for it was illegal to shoot the dog!...after several hours I Called the DEC and they hadn't heard anything about it and said I was lucky I had a gun...the dog that attacked me was on a deer someone else had shot and in a feeding frenzy...the deer was alive but its butt was gone...the dog would have killed me. Here the problems would increase because the guys unwilling to take up a reg. bow and hunt only gun will be out in bow season with a xbow... Did you know that in NYS a Convicted felon is allowed to hunt with....A BOW....Do you also know that it is easy to find out what convicted felons in your area are bow hunters...and with "special" dispensation they can get a reg gun deer license. That blk powder hunting is legal as well?...Guess what my neighbor looked up...ya well 5 in our area...gee go figure....2 with special dispensation...one with sealed records brags about a friendship with a DA ??? : Also that there are felons that are hunting in gun season with a gun because they have a visible back tag because of the bow/muzzle license

There is nothing paranoid about what I said about law enforcement...it was a statement in fact.... Your blessed not to have the problems we have here and I am out hunting every single day ..but when your minding your own business on your own property and have ppl nearly shooting you and family members....sitting in a stand in the middle of your land to hear..."shit! she's in her stand" coming from behind you or when your turkey hunting and guys are strolling through the property....when you are out by your live stock and some guys still hunting 50ft away and tells you to go "f" your self because you ask his name...The dogs are barking at night and you find 4 guys wondering around behind your house...Lets see you find a guy with a shot gun in the middle of your property and tell him to step out of the bushes and give you his tag info...he then steps up on you and ask "Who the hell are you?''.....when your cell phone rings and it's your neighbor screaming at the top of their lungs they'er shooting at me!!!and you can hear the shots and the phone goes dead.....the guys next door shoot and kill one of there own ...Hey you look out your front porch and a guy standing in a pick up bed is drawing down on your goats with a bow.....broad heads in your tractor tires...and just the other day the neighbor asking about road bow hunters at his place Well this has been a total 15 years and that is just a fraction of whats happened...Hell not a single good reason to be a tad negative there!....No I don't have to move....nor stop hunting and by the way same crud is happening at our camp and driving the ppl that live down there crazy....the road hunting and the trespassing ...on..and on...that is 60 miles away....I just have to keep buying more land around me and more cameras...the other person having these same problems next to us....just added another 50 acres...... so soon these guys will find it difficult to sneak on any where around us These twits just keep loosing more hunting land and whining it's our fault ... : Ohh ya chicken little and the sky's falling.... well my dear you deal with this crap all year long and have the DEC tell you "what do you want us to do?...you know they'll just lie any ways" The positive is that I have 2 kids that are still willing to go hunting at all.... When I see that the DEC can start cleaning up this kind of stuff...when they put as many officers in the rest of the state as they do down state...and when they have guys out there not getting friendly with the ppl doing this kind of stuff...because those ppl are ass kissers ....you'll see me..... and from the messages I've gotten from ppl....... a lot of other hunter/ land owners being a lot more positive... I not only don't want xbows for anyone other than physically challenged ....but I'd like to see eye..... drug and weapon proficiency tests to get a hunting license.....renewal tests every 10yrs there after and the right to sue all violators on privately owned lands...for punitive damages...Negative.... yep

Boy ...Right THERE that is the REAL problem...ppl like you that don't care that there are slob hunters...and that they are growing in numbers....You'd rather be on line bashing other hunters for having a real concern about the introduction of a weapon that would make things even easier for these same slobs to continue doing the illegal things that YOU don't care about....Don't get me going on the conservation officers and police officers taking care of the problem.....Just take a good look at the skewed numbers of conservation officers for down state compared to every place else : ...Ha.... lets talk about how many small town cops have gotten caught doing illegal hunting activities over the past 30yrs with slaps on the wrist.....complacent and naive hey?

Perhaps you should have said ACTIVELY...for I haven't been aggressive in any of my actions...you need to read the post thrown out there by the pro cross bow ppl to see aggression... What I'm doing is simple...I'm putting out questions and giving links...and letting them see discussions....Then suggesting that if they see a reason for concern...... that they were not actively sought out for their opinions on this matter..... as were hunters ..then perhaps they too should be writing to their representatives

Now if you are associating with bow hunters of that caliber ...that's your problem...I personally don't...all the bow hunters I care to associate with do practice ...a lot ...or belong to shooting clubs... Personally even the slob bow hunters I've mentioned, I assumed practiced...they are slobs for their unlawful actions...but once again... you bring up a VERY good point....If the MANY ppl( according to you) that have taken the 2 day course for bow hunting, still don't take the time to practice with "reg." bow gear .....How could NYS expect ppl to taking an on line course, learn to know and use a cross bow properly? Well you asked for some thing then disputed it as I knew you would...the Yonkers woman...well she and the other errant arrow report were to show how dangerous they can be....What accusations ?...It is fact that state conservation depts. Actually I plot like I cook...sight smell and touch ....my soil is very acidic ...actually last test they called and said one new sight was so low they couldn't find it on the charts....I use a mixture of pelleted and granular lime...one leaches less than the other and works slower....I put my plots on a rotation and start all plots out as 3-4 year annuals...this is to help break the weed cycle and save some on roundup...It also brings me into a perennial plot with a better soil tilth .....All my plots start out in buckwheat...I can't say enough good things about it....It's a good crop to let the critters know something new is in town and it draws up phosphorous that buck crave...deep soil loosening roots ...easy cut and incorporate and if you turkey hunt....great for bringing them in and keeping them coming back...also gives you a first crop while your waiting for the lime to kick in...I also lime every year...building the ph gradually...turnips are another great low cost big draw plot ...and you can over seed them into the buckwheat late fall ...just fertilize 10-10 -10 and over seed before a good rain...after a few years of this ...or other annual plantings you'l have a great base for a low maitanance perennial plot that will draw deer in for several years...in the mean time you can start other lower cost plots building things up as you go Always start out with a killing spray...2wks later if you have growth kill again...then break ground wait and kill again...2wks and plant....fallow ground has years and years of dormant weed seed just waiting to see the sun...and deep rooted perennial weeds that are difficult to kill...you'll still have time for a quick summer crop and a fall crop...depending on your time and soil...have rocks? ....They are my biggest time eaters...

Those plots are several years old..so yes....I finally have the lower turnip plot half melted...I checked it today and it is loaded with 2-3 in turnips that made it through the winter and are actually growing tops...ran into 2 neighbors today and one said the deer have been there nightly and the other said he's been hearing gobbling from that area ;D ...It should be a great hunting year

Chicory is one component in all my mixed plots....they take those plots down to dirt every fall.....

You speak of ethical shots and choice of weapon making ethical shots....In reality the only ethical shot is made with in your own mind and the choices you make ...not the weapon you use...If you know that shooting a recurve out to 20 yrds would or could result in a poor hit or un recovered deer....Than you just choose to be ethical and not shoot those yardages...You take the CHALLENGE of hunting and waiting for them to come into an acceptable range...You HUNT.......make ETHICAL decisions in passing good deer...and just enjoy the fact you saw them at all...Ohh perhaps learn to bring them into range This is the reason many don't want to see X-bows in NY....ppl like you making these claims, and not getting this.... it's not the equipment but the hunter...using that term loosely...... that will gravitate to x bows .. elitist? please look that word up...For many of you banter that word around as if it's an insult ...you make me laugh...but moistly feel sad for you...you can't have a difference of opinion with out pulling out all the "high School" OOhhh so Bad insults....lord grow up!

They have such a routine even in winter....walking down to the streams in the morning....back to the fields....snows mostly gone in upper fields....to eat at night

WNY ...you keep saying that but with the responses you and other Xbow supporters have given ..you make a very compelling argument as to why all hunters and land owners ....hikers and recreationist should speak up against them...and perhaps seeing I haven't read or heard a word from the NYB association on the Xcross bows...for I don't care to have any organizations putting their thoughts in my mouth ....I should go about the business of getting hunters and non hunters to voice their oppinions on this....you may find you have less supporters than you thought Perhaps not enough out door ppl realize this controversy is happening...or that they aren't being given the proper opportunity to consider this inclusion ...and what effects it may have on their public land use areas ... That they have a mere 2yrs to rally and speak up to give their opinions....Maybe they don't realize that large organizations with delegates have more to say than they do and if you don't belong to an organization you have to fight to make your voice heard ....Yes ...Thank You for the push...I have some work ahead of me ....

I'd be thankful that they weren't going to be in the woods while I was enjoying bow hunting...and I'd be out in the woods hunting small game with my gun...and patrolling
