  1. Guys need some advice. I hit a doe at 20 yards at the arrow looks like it has light blood and meat on it. I found small chunks of meat on the ground at the hit site also. Could I have hit her too high? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Welp...came up short on the search. Spent from 7am until 20-30 mins ago searching the area and not one blood drop or hair past 30 yards from where she was shot. Called dear search and left a VM. Man do I hate this feeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Grand island. No rain in this area thank god. I’m taking my GSP out with me in the morning and we’ll try and locate her. He’s not trained to locate but his nose is better than nothing if I can’t get the blood trail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. 5:30 a group of does stood up and came all the way in to 35 yards and the biggest one gave me a perfect broadside shot. I was so confident she’d be piled up in 50 yards or less. Turns out the arrow must’ve hit a branch and deflected because nothing but guts on the arrow [emoji51]. I can’t find blood anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE. I’ve only ever hit a deer in the gut one other time and the advice was to back out and come back the next day. What would you guys do? I’m bummed right now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Too early for rattling? What do you guys think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. First sit this season....ahhh finally. Hunting 9A 55 and slightly breezy. Spooked a doe on the way in. Let’s hope something comes by Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I wish. 1 minute later it would’ve been I was still getting situated in the stand lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Just had a skittish doe come by and then right after a coyote. The yote busted me reaching for the rifle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Anybody having any luck rattling? Too early? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. 3 full day sits without even a squirrel and a nice big doe comes along gives me a broadside shot like a gift from above aaaaannnd....MISS. 🤦‍♂️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. In 9F. Chilly and a slight breeze. Only heard two shots all morning so far Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I have to agree with some of you on here and say the weather last year might be the reason there's a lot less deer sightings. I've noticed it big time. Less road kills, less deer at the processors, less shots in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. No morning hunt for me. Daughters had a taekwondo tournament. I went out afternoon and saw deer after after deer after deer. No shooters. I literally played mind games with a small doe. I'd let her get 50-60 yards away and then call her back in. I literally did this for almost an hour. Kept me busy for sure! Honestly was decent size but I know there's a big 8pt hanging out in the area and figured if I keep the doe around he might pop out. No dice though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Haha. That kinda guy huh? "Let's try a new spot I haven't seen a deer in 5 minutes". Good luck everybody! Hoping to see some more monsters on the thread later on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Are you on state land? I hunt state land all through bow season and skip opening weekend for gun because of how crazy it gets. Always seems to be that one guy that shoots at whatever moves and misses 5 consecutive shots lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Great buck TC! Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's my firm opinion that the reason why hunters say deer don't move in the wind and rain is because hunters don't hunt in the wind and rain. I've gotten some great deer on poor weather days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I screwed up today. I sat at a field edge today and observed a group of deer for a while. Two bucks amongst the group. Weird the deer must still think it's summer. Anyway I rattled lightly and the bigger of the two bucks came running over and I couldn't get ready quick enough. I'm sitting there unable to draw because he's 10 yards away. He stares into the woods and moves slightly upwind and winds me. I rattled too long and really wish I would have been ready for him. Perfect shot opportunity and I blew it. Definitely learning from this one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. It hasn't worked for me at all this season. Had success prior years too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Not sure why it double posted. Weird. Anyways the end of the day was super exciting! All I saw was one 6pt all day and then BAM I see a huuuuge 8pt 30 mins before dark. Can't get him to come in and he leaves the area so I'm ready to call it a day and then the woods just exploded. Two does and 2 fawn groups entered the field next to me all out of good shot range. The 8pt came back to the field after the does and it was chaotic. Deer running everywhere. No "real" chance at a shot tonight but overall lotta action especially the last hour
  21. I just had the biggest buck I've ever seen in person make a scrape 80 yards away from me. I tried everything to get him to come in. Grunt. Snort wheeze. I could see he was reacting to it but after 30-45 seconds he'd go right back to scraping. After he left I even tried rattling to get him back into the area. Nothing.
