  1. So you are a trophy hunter of sorts as i and many are. Most wont say that because they think it handcuffs them in some way. I would not shoot 90% of the bucks that walk the woods these days but thats by choice. To each their own.
  2. I spend 3/4 of the hunting season standing on state land and kill many and could kill piles. A 2 hour drive from most peoples homes in Ny state would put them onto deer rich areas open to the public. After that its on the hunter to be able to do his part. So you are a meat hunter and any legal brown deer is down. No problems there. Your Choice.
  3. My deer get feed what comes off my land. No special sauce givin to them and i still have 250 inch bucks. The stress factor is no where near the same. You have to have the blood before you can feed it and give it what it needs to flourish and show what its top makeup is. Was just watching a show on growing weed for cancer patients and such and how they cross mind altering weed with a weed that is more of a body high. The plants get the same care but their genetics show 2 different things. Gotta have the genetics if you are going to make something. After that its all about what you do to help show the best those genetics have!
  4. No arguing that but it is pretty simple for a hunter to take a deer in most places..A Hunter! Now as far as the deer go they all look pretty much the same in the big picture. Was just wondering what it took for you to pick..That Deer..to pull the trigger or loose an arrow on?
  5. So true..These kinds very well could have a huge impact on the future of hunting...Off private property.... These kind of people have the mindset that hunting whitetails is cruel and against all they live for....But...Let someone say we have to many deer in an area eating flowers and killing woodland ant then they say...Oh yes, We have to many..Bring a sharpshooter in and KILL them NICELY!
  6. Myself i do not see how nutrition can change blood. You can feed that thing gold and he will only give you the max of his genetic background. The only way to change a genetic makeup is to change a mom or dad into the pedigree of any existing whitetail....
  7. So true. Most of the ideas you speak of does not have hunt anywhere in them. That is the true meaning of shooting. Yes there may be some :Work: involved and far as to carry something or walking a distance but anything else is in the grey area for sure.
  8. Figures it would be you to bring in high fence into a conversation! FSW does not give a rats ass if you kill deer for big antlers or not. I myself like big antlers but i like to HUNT the baddest, Smartest SOB in the woods on his own turf. That means you have to find him first. I have shot mature 4 points with bases as big as coke cans. He was a very smart deer and did not take him till late muzzle season! Back to your rant on high fence i guess!!!!!
  9. Ahh..The truth...If its brown its down pretty much. Thats fine, Your a meat hunter! Next!!!!
  10. If there is deer there a good hunter will find one. I also added in the short drive just for this reply.
  11. Good answers but not to the question...What about the DEER makes you tick...What makes one deer different from any other. Would you let one walk to wait to kill another. They all pretty much look the same really. What are YOU looking for. Not why do you hunt. What does the deer have to have for you to kill it?
  12. Well i lost it half way thru the video but did they not test all the deer from the same state just different areas of that state? You cant do a test on something if you dont use the same playing field. We have hundreds of different bloodlines we can breed with from all across the country and regardless of what you feed a buck thats maximum genetic makeup is a 140 inch 10 point then thats all he can be..Genetics! You have to feed the blood and let that blood age if you are breeding deer in a closed setting. If you only have god givin in a certin area to work with then its like the southern tier and the northern tier. Why do you think i drive about 3 hours one way every weekend to hunt the other end of the state? I have great deer but they have better and thats because of soil and food. But where i hunt they also have a chance to get old to show the best that they can be!
  13. Just soft sided case sitting in the corner of the cab. Big Case tractors have lots of room inside the cab.
  14. Lol. Pretty simple question really. Now if the truth is told will be the next thing!
  15. So if deer are your number 1 thing to hunt then do tell what is the reason for that...It is pretty easy to kill a deer by walking into most woods. If you dont have them then a short drive would find ya some! So what in a deer makes it so thrilling and exciting for you?
  16. LOL..No dig taken...I have proven time and time again that genetics are the most important...If you are trying to raise big deer! You can feed a deer with poor genetics the top food available and everything he needs to show his top potential and thats what you will get. For the average hunter nutrition is the most important because they are happy with what most animals will show if givin the right amount and kinds of food. Now an antler nut such as myself the average deer just wont cut it so i need the genetics to make me click. Regardless of either....If the deer that has the greatest nutrition and the best genetics does not have time to show it you will still never see his best! IMHO Of Course!
  17. They hear it all the time. I live next to a military base. Helicopters come down to count the points! There is a rifle in every tractor ready when needed. Many in this area keep their rifles in their tractors for deer and turkey. Shoot on sight. Many biggers farms that lease 1000's of acres consider them vermin anymore. If you read the news and look at all the bait and kill going on with whitetails there are many the now call them vermin. Most of them are city folk losing flower beds and hearing of the disease being spread by wild herd.
  18. Yes he clearly stated what it takes for any hunter to be successful on mature trophy animals. He says they are there and he goes and does what it takes to get himself one or three. That sure is far from saying there are none or very few good animals around. Some got it and some don't!
  19. Whenever they get within view of the livestock. Does not take much to set them off at times. For about a year they had so many encounters and heard their yipping and yapping they would run from one side of the farm to the other when the heard a police car coming down the highway or any kind of siren pretty much.
  20. You guys are thinking way to much about this. You are going to get yourselves a headache. I dont know why you think it would be so hard to have an outfitting business in Ny. I will admit i just threw the 130 minimum out there because thats what most other states do but still do able because we see many on our property each year.As far as shooting inside the pen? You would be shocked at the offers recieved! Grow, The DEC has no say in what we do in our business any longer. They over stepped their bounds and got sued and lost. Our animals are under the Dept Of Ag. You are right that it is against the law to release but if you read sites like QDMA you will see how sloppy we are and let our deer out all the time. I know it does happen and i know folks have great hunting areas because of it. Kinda makes ya wonder why someone would set deer of that magnitude free to the masses when so many are willing to pay so much to hunt them! Biz, You know me well...I still have the offer up for you to be my first. I see you spend alot of cash paying people to set up your hunts on your trips. I also saw where you posted that you have very few if any good deer in your area and a post was put up by a hunter that is getting the job done very well in your area by the sounds of it. Some just dont have what it takes to get the job done and are willing to pay( As You Know) good money to have it done for them. Thats why i dont see why Moog thinks it wont work. People will pay big for big deer. Period! Paula, LOL..Same ole-Same Ole......
  21. I'm liking the looks of those numbers. You can see where the deer problems are. Just about all the 8's are handing them out...
  22. Not real concerned about the hunter part. I myself am protecting an investment and in reality have the law on my side. This talk of some saying you cant just kill them and reduce the numbers is just plain hogwash. if you are on your property enough and kill on sight the numbers will drop to about nill. If you are seeing them in numbers, you are seeing them in daylight and you hear multiple packs yipping back and forth to each other from different corners of your property you probably have a problem. After that you will see your wildlife go by the wayside.
  23. You and your science has been proven wrong my friend. You call all out war on them things and they will be eliminated one way or the other. They either pack their bags and move or they learn to move only under the cover of darkness, Keep their mouths shut and jump from stump to stump so they dont leave tracks. If the Op leaves those things and does nothing he will have no game to worry about for him or his buddies.
  24. Because its already a done deal and just waiting for the day to put ink to paper. They know what, where, when and why now. Just have to implement it.
