Going to be all High Fence.
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in General Chit Chat
Really! Can you be so sure? Facts are facts and if sh!t like this takes hold you dont think it will effect hunting/hunters? Think again. CWD will be nothing if something like this catches fire. Is there a chance its only 1 case? Lets hope but with a death of a young person and now this finding....Yeah you watch the nut cases light up the news cast! -
Well lets get off this stupid black and white post and talk about something that matters. Look's like CWD could be the least of the wild deer and hunters problems with this. I said long ago that the day will come where high fence may be the only safe place to get a whitetail deer. If this crap takes a hold onto deer/people....Party is over! Scary really after a death and all as of late! Warnings issued after first deer is infected with plague in El Paso CountyBonnie Silkman , Weekend GMC Anchor / Reporter COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Imagine getting a knock on your door from a health official who's there to warn you about the plague. That's exactly what happened in Colorado Springs on Monday, after a deer was to be infected with the disease. "I enjoy the deer. I'm glad they come in the yard. I hate to see something happen to them. It would be nice to know what can be done to protect the deer," said Kent Vance, who's lived in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood for most his life. Health experts say it's extremely rare for a deer to get the plague. Despite that, for the first time in El Paso County, a deer that was found in Pleasant Valley has tested positive for the disease. The deer was euthanized last week. "The deer was walking around the area sick. What happens is the plague hits the eyes of the deer. The deer was blind, so it was running into things, stumbling around. People got concerned and called the Division of Wildlife," Deputy Director of El Paso County Health Department, Tom Gonzalez said. "I'm really concerned, and when I hear that the teenager in Fort Collins died of the plague, that's an even bigger concern," Vance said. Just weeks ago, Taylor Gaes of Fort Collins died of plague the day after his 16th birthday. "The symptoms are very high fever, flu-like, lethargic. So folks might think they have the flu or the common cold," said Gonzalez. "It could spread quickly. I think we need to be educated as to what we need to do to prevent it," Maggie Ramos of Pleasant Valley said. That's exactly why health officials are passing out fliers. They explain that the plague is a bacterial disease. It spread through infected fleas or by handling an infected animal. That's also why so many people are more worried for their pets. "They're going to be lethargic, they're going to act different and have a fever, and that's when you want to seek guidance from your veterinarian," Gonzalez said. People can also keep their eye out for warning signs. If you see a sudden die-off of squirrels, rabbits or other wild animals, you should contact the health department. Here's a list of other precautions you can take: Protect pets with flea powder Avoid all contact with wild animals Prevent rodent infestations Be sure to treat rodent sites with rat poison and flea powder

Any Non-white Members?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Does this look like politics? And the location i was talking about is not on this site. There is no place on this site that anything about black and white, maybe in the trail cam posts! -
Any Non-white Members?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah no kidding! and for someone to even start a thread like this on a hunting site? I believe the mods should be watching who really talks and more so..shows hunting on their posts or relocate them to the proper place. -
Good advice. A GPS with your big boy pants on. Go deep in most state lands and you will find lots of great hunting and very few hunters. Most are afraid to go very deep into a forest, or unhealthy and lazy. Doc says offer a little help to farmers. Good advice also but the guys that get to put footprints on my properties offered alot of help and were there to help. They also came back a couple of times to talk to see if anything had changed even after i told them i was not so sure on adding another hunter to the property. Show you are more than willing to do what it takes.

David Sweat Shot And In Custody!
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
It was a break in..Not a break out! How many times have you seen manholes locked from the inside? Every time i have seen them open they just insert tool and pop open. Lots of strange...What If's..on this one! -
Really, Do you need the 'Talk' again? I guess if you really believe they have 1 buck 1 bottle going on you will keep them in business a long time. Truth be known, There is probably no part of any whitetail in that bottle...Alive or Dead!
-
That kinda goes along with the...One deer, One bottle..Yeah right, I have watched that truck pull off a deer scent farm stocked full of 55 gallon drums full of urine headed back to the bottling company!
-
I just want to know how they get them individual matching glands from buck to bottle?
-
Each bottle contains matching glands from individual bucks and comes in a 1.25oz bottle. And just how do you think they do this and put it in a 1.25oz bottle? lol Get your scent right from the tap and you will get the freshest, strongest REAL scent you can use.

Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY
Four Season Whitetail's replied to mike rossi's topic in General Hunting
LOL..I dont know but after reading some of this i think some worry way to much about something that most likely they will never be involved with. Its really not that big of a deal. -
There is probably a reason you got a great deal. Hope for the best but at tax auctions there are always locals after it for one reason or another. I hope for your sake all is well but cheap land always comes at a cost one way or the other!

Explaining hunting to non-hunters
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Hunting
They are now saying that this is possible in our cherished Whitetail Deer! When this comes to be 100% proven whitetail deer will be a thing of the past for most states! -
Explaining hunting to non-hunters
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Hunting
So True. I hold myself..At this age..To need to have a quarry that is the smartest, hardest to find and extremely hard to harvest. I believe there are also 2 kinds of trophy hunters...The ones that have to have every animal put on this earth mounted on their wall and then the ones that hunt for the meat to enjoy from an animal but that animal still has to be the tops of that species. In the case of the Whitetail, that trophy can be a mature almost unkillable animal with ten inch spikes or it could be a 2 year old with 150 inches of bone on his head. For some hunters... Others may have a different idea of what a trophy is. Thats what makes it so nice! -
Manage your own property for the number of deer you want on your property to keep a healthy herd and have great hunting. Dont worry about what others thing is a good number of deer for you to take. Its your property after all.
-
I find this hard to believe but with New Yorkers always looking out for number one and not joining the group fight...I would not doubt it!
-
Yup, I sure had no problem doing this! Someday they will get it right. I just dont understand how they dont take a page or two out of a states playbook that has great deer, great deer management and everybody involved is happy? There are many they could copy thats for sure!
-
Another DEC abortion on the way...
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Trial153's topic in Deer Hunting
I am not so sure Doc. It may not be the answer but i believe its a huge improvement with landowners managing their own land/herds. Many,Many in todays deer hunting are managing their herds just as high fence ranches do, just minus the fence of course. When we are talking 700-1300 acre solid tracts of land alot can be done do keep the deer in balance and also have some damn good deer hunting when we hunt. After all..That is what this is all about! Did you see the last write up about there being to many deer in Letchworth State Park because young trees are not growing? What a joke. Now they are talking sharpshooters are relocation! Look at the fenced in enclosers that were put up 3-4 years ago? There are no new growth of trees in them either. Coming from someone that has spent about 3 weekends a year and 2 solid weeks vacation during hunting season for the last 19 years on that park....To many deer is no longer a problem on that park. But of course i am not a trained DEC bioligist with a degree on the wall. -
You will do fine fishing Eel Bay for Bass,Pike and Perch. Very shallow in the bay and the mighty Saint is low already this year. If you feel like a Walleye or two head out back towards the bridge and the current. There is another campground up the road from the state park, out front of there has always trolled us up some good sized northerns. You will find enough fish im sure!

Really! Does only.....
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Deer Hunting
Just look at all the other states that listened to their DEC/DNR and now have no deer/ cutting back seasons and even ending some seasons. We listen to ours and we will be in the same boat. Thats why we will do things our way thank you very much. Some say lawbreakers...We say protecting our intrests.
