  1. Only the northern bow season starting 9/27?
  2. I was wondering if they every actually get used to your smell? Say if I check them once a week for a few months, the deer smells me, doesn't associate my smell with seeing me or danger... Seems like I could just become a regular smell over time? What do you think wishful thinking?
  3. Check your trailcameras this time of year (two months out).
  4. I have some triplets this year too, didnt know it was so uncommon.
  5. Don't know if this will narrow down the type of corn or not but I felt like it was planted later than other fields in the area.
  6. Should I be hoping for cow corn or sweet corn then?
  7. The past few years I have been hunting one if my friends land who leases his land out to a farmer. The farmer usually plants soybeans, but this year he surprised me by planting some type of corn. I was wondering how I could tell what type of corn it is by the stalk. Furthermore, what types of implications could sweet corn have or cow corn have on hunting. For example, the timing of their harvest and the manner in which they are harvested. I would imagine some methods leave more for the deer than others.... Thanks for the input!
  8. Just curious what types of things you are seeing that are a few weeks behind?
  9. Not a debate on whether they should or shouldn't be used. Do we know if they will or won't be used yet? If not when will we know?
  10. I'm looking to finally buy a rangefinder. I know they can be expensive. My price limit would be in the $150 range. I would like one with slope compensation technology. Anyone have any suggestions?
  11. Nice looking buck, one of the biggest I've seen so far this year! ????
  12. 1996 jeep Cherokee 206k miles and still going like a champ!
  13. I think this year I'm going to break down and buy a nicer harness that is easier to put on than the type that comes with treestands. Anyone have any suggestions? Looking to spend at most $100. Looking for something that has buckles and doesn't restrict my movements in the stand. Thanks or the help
  14. The land I hunt is made up of primarily farmed land, 70%. Over the past few years the farmer has planted soybeans... This year I just noticed he switched to corn. Something like 60 acres. My question is what kind of impact will this have on the deer before and after the crop is harvested? Will the corn hold the deer just as well as the soybeans? I should also note that the next farm over traditionally plants corn and the deer often bedded on my land and traveled to the corn in the evening to graze.
  15. Went with these -----^^^^^ Thanks for the help and advice guys
  16. I made an impulse purchase and bought two hangon stands. I never have used them before but I liked the idea of them. I'm finding out now that the climbing sticks or screw in steps are pretty expensive also.... Wasn't really expecting that. That's wht I get for making a purchase without thinking it through I guess. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on where to get a cheap set of steps or screw ins? Anyone have a creative alternative? I'm open to any advice. Thanks!
  17. This is more the route I was thinking. Thanks for the advice!
  18. THanks, the next obvious question is what should I do with it. If anything at all?
  19. I would rather not kill it, unless it poses some kind of harm to me or my house.
  20. Not very knowledgable when it comes to snakes. Anyone know what kind of snake this is living under my cement porch? Approximately 3.5 to 4' long.
  21. Wow! Sounds like he will be a bruiser. Hope you post the pics if you get some.
