  1. WOW you wear orange and actually see deer! Then you move and they stand there? I want to hunt THOSE deer. I guess growing up hunting amongst an orange army with deer on SUPER HIGH ALERT is quite different. I had 3 does sneaking by once and the last one sneezed, the other 2 jumped 6 feet in the air and if deer can give the stink eye that sneezer got 4 of them. I've been conditioned, so much as blink and they were outa' there. Good hunting. And I've never been able to do the not eat meat thing either Dude just passing on some interesting, tested info.
  2. We know more now, wait at least an hour depending on your findings (blood, bile, etc),. They are hurt but don't know what happened. Let they see you on their butt and this stuff called adrenalin kicks in, nasty stuff, keeps them running for hours.
  3. Plan, Plan, Plan. Scout, Scout, Scout. it takes years to learn an area and shoot bucks regularly. I certainly wish you luck with hunting a new area a week from now. I have never had much success with that.
  4. thanks Addict, It must be the whitetail itself based on the varied responces. For me the tales around the table fueled a flame that will never die. I have hunted many species in many states/countries, but the family deer camp is still number one.
  5. Tinks still works great for me
  6. The land owner made it clear he does not care who hunts there. It would be great for you if he did and allowed you to post the property, try tossing him a few bucks. Not sure I would go around throwing people off without the landowners ok, they may take it out on him.
  7. What's the big deal about baiting when doe in heat scent is legal? Who heads for the fridge with a hot babe in the hood?

    Button Bucks

c'mon folks it's easy, don't shoot yearlings and you won't shoot button bucks. STOP SHOOTING MY RECRUITS! Button bucks are way too easy anyway, mom shoos them off when she goes to breed and they don't know anything yet.
  9. I never move if I can see the eye of a deer, you move, you're busted. if there's pressure in the area, get within range of where they went thru after they leave, i have had deer pushed right back along the same trail numerous times, also had does go thru then come back with a buck attached.

    Number 1

Can't tell body size, makes it tough but it looks like a young deer so my guess, hmmmm 96. Please do score it and tell us, My sincere apologies if he goes 110/120, back to scoring school for me
  11. "Cherish the Camp" indeed. I am fortunate enough to be able to do that. The family deer camp, Gone but not forgotten.
  12. Very wise move, big bucks get bigger by never going where no buck has gone before.
  13. Play a harmonica while you're stillhunting, if you don't want to spook them, they stand there looking at you, totally unfair tho, i don't do it, FAIR CHASE folks, it's the only way to go.
  14. Yep, betcha the a'hole trophy hunter drags in a spiker one day, you don't shoot booners by sending recruits to the other guys
