  1. What I meant was they cycle through those 3 colors and that's it. How do they know the green one you're wearing isn't from a different year? The only one you have a chance to read the numbers on is the yellow. And don't worry about me, I hunt mostly public land so I make sure to dot my I's and cross my T's! I get checked all the time.
  2. But what is the actual point of having to wear them is what I'm trying to figure out? So far, I cannot see a valid reason for having to wear them. I didn't say its difficult to do.
  3. How do they know anything by the color of them? They are the same color for consecutive years in a row.
  4. I shoot Trophy Ridge sights. I love the vertical pins, they make for a much clearer sight picture. Although, if you go with a slider its just one vertical pin.
  5. Good point! If you're paying the same as everyone else, shouldn't you get the same priveledges?
  6. If that's the case, we need to pressure them to lower the cost of a hunting license! Shows you how much the DEC knows what its doing. Implementing regulations based on peer pressure sounds like a good plan to me!
  7. You must be lucky. The DEC where I hunt will write you a ticket for looking crosseyed at em!
  8. Obviously you don't hunt much on public land. If you were to ever look at the DEC violations section in the newspaper you would see that a ton of them are back tag violations. BTW, I didn't say I had a problem wearing one but I really don't see the point, especially while trying to wear a pack.
  9. AR's allow them to rebuild the herd. It protects yearling bucks. More bucks= rebuilding the herd. I'm sure they also reduced the number of DMP's they give out there too.
  10. Not everyone has binocs on them. If I saw someone trespassing on my property, I wouldn't be able to get their back tag number without the bionic bino's the DEC uses? Makes sense to me
  11. That's for people a lot smarter than me to decide LOL! I know that the reason the DEC implemented AR's in the Catskill areas is because they deemed the herd unhealthy.
  12. After reading the replies so far, I'm just about positive its just a revenue generator and nothing else!! If its necessary, it should be necessary everywhere in NY state!!!
  13. There are some places in the state where the herd is unhealthy, like the Catskills. But you cant tell me for a minute that the herd is unhealthy in western NY and needs AR's. There a lot of big bucks running around regions 8 & 9
  14. With all the threads with endless bickering about X Bows and AR's going on around here I thought I would start a thread about a topic that has always stumped me for all my hunting years. Why do we need to wear a back tag? Seems that most logic points to the fact of hunter identification in the field if you're trespassing or doing something wrong but I have problems with this. (1) Most people who are knowingly trespassing are probably not going to wear a back tag anyway and (2) anyone who says they can read a black number printed on dark green paper from more than 20 yards away is full of crap! If they were intended to be read, why not make them on a lighter background with bigger letters? I think its just one of those stupid laws they made up to write more tickets a generate revenue. I have a friend who actually got a ticket because he took off his coat and put it in his backpack to drag a deer out of the woods. DEC said he was still hunting because he was carrying his gun and had doe tags left. I had a talk with a DEC officer because I put my back tag on my pack. According to him, you can't cover up your back tag with a back pack but if you put the tag on your pack as soon as you take the pack off you're breaking the law. Seems like a no win situation if you wear a backpack!
  15. Ultimate Finishers does Kolorfusion too. Tarjac has really gone down the crapper! Maybe they're too busy dipping motorcycles for American Chopper! I'm gonna bring my bow to Bill at Ultimate Finishers after hunting season. Only question is, do I want black or Predator Deception 3D?
  16. A Crossbow isn't a gun or a bow. Its a CROSS between them both. Figuring out which season you should be able to hunt with it is the big question. Gun?...Bow?...Muzzleloader?....I don't know
  17. I practice AR's but its my choice. It should be something that's left up to the individual person. Its fine if you want to educate people on the benefits of AR's but the ultimate choice should be left to the individual hunter. Not everyone hunts for antlers. Some guys go out a couple times a year and just want to get a deer.
  18. Go with Bill at Ultimate Finishers. Tarjacs quality control sucks! They don't even strip the old finish off before dipping. If you want to read some Tarjac horror stories just search Tarjac on the Archerytalk.com website. I've also worked firsthand with Tarjac and was not impressed.
  19. I'd like to give it a try sometime myself. I already picked out a few areas in those counties to look at. Now all I have to do is get out there to scout them out!
  20. Ha Ha Rick, that is the same one I saw on craigslist! I was wondering if it was yours.
  21. I went to the John Deere dealer because I didn't believe half of those reviews either. I asked him what the difference was between the D170, which is what they sell at Lowes & Home Depot, and the X300 besides an extra $300. He told me the D series is a 7-10 year mower and the X series are a 20-25 year mower. He had both in stock, but for the extra $ I went with the X300 and I couldn't be happier!
  22. I don't know why everyone wasn't all fired up about this when they signed the Patriot Act into law. That's when this all became legal to do.
  23. If you have a newer Scent Blocker Jacket, the Spider Harness snaps right into the coat. Bought one for my son for Christmas and he loves it!
  24. Yep...apple trees on my property are loaded up with a bunch falling off already too. Seems like the trees are trying to make up for no fruit last year
  25. 2012 Silverado Z71 with Max4 Camo Seatcovers. I'm seriously thinking of trading it in for a 2014 Silverado. Those things are freakin sweet!
