  1. Don't forget, round is a shape Not a very good one to have though. My wife and I have been fasting this month. I actually started a little before new years. I felt horrible, tired all the time, not wanting to do anything. Cut out all sweets and with the fast I'm only eating vegetables, fruits, grains, etc. (Daniel fast more or less). For drinks its either water or coffee- I will NOT give up coffee, I work nights and it's my little cup of life and happiness while I'm working. Anyways, I've lost over 10lbs and gained energy and ambition back. I plan on keeping the diet for the most part and adding some kind of exercise to that as well.
  2. Open sighted JC Higgins model 50 30-06. Using 180gr round nose Core-lokt.
  3. I fully plan on doing as much hunting as possible with my muzzleloader and a bow. Since I haven't gotten into bow hunting yet, I guess my plans got moved up. I have enough ammo for my rifles and shotguns to last for several years if I don't do any target shooting, but that means that I now have a bunch of pretty looking pieces of wood and tubing in the safe- that I am not happy about. I can see this rolling out just like obamacare. No thought put into it (as if there was any to start with), way over budget, and without any instruction or communication to those that have to actually work with the system. My personal hope is that the system flops flat on its face the second it goes online and the outrage from the public on all sides who see the money being wasted (CoBIS anybody?) gets it shut down and repealed. Obviously, the powers to be are ignoring the shooting community. Maybe a little help from the rest of the peanut gallery will do us some good.
  4. True. I've seen how the state "saves you money and makes things easier" before. I'm kinda scared to check.. Next poster has a Gadsden flag hanging somewhere in their house. (Mine is above the computer in the living room and has been the start to more than one conversation.)
  5. True. But I guess it "helps" that I work at one The next poster is looking foreword to rabbits in the stew pot.
  6. Ok, thanks. I must have read over that while skimming through the bill I was thinking along this line as well. The state sees this as a money making proposition more than an invasive species issue. I'm keeping (or trying to anyway) an eye on this issue as I would like to make hog hunting part of my already small hunting schedule, lol.
  7. The law itself doesn't but gives the right to the DEC to make that decision and it appears that they may already be working on that: Found in the link WNYBuckHunter provided: Also, would the possession part of the law not prohibit hunters from taking them in the wild as well?
  8. I saw that. Leave it to NY to make taking an invasive species illegal. How about making killing the Emerald ash borer illegal next? /sarcasm According to the DEC -> http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/70843.html Sounds to me like they are probably going to make a season on them and force people to buy tags.
  9. Thanks for the greetings! NFA- I've been on forums for quite a while so I'm familiar with the protocol, lol. I can't recall any time I've been "butt hurt" over an argument online. Usually does no good and makes everyone look foolish most of the time. I'm looking forward to the topics and conversation. Looks like a good crew here. I will check out the trail cam thread, my dad has one in his yard to spy on the deer getting into the bird feeder, lol. Has some good shots. Being stuck in an apartment, I get to watch birds hit my window and squirrels that I can't shoot. Hmmmmm. Biscuit or drops. I'd have to go with neither. I prefer muffins Actually, I don't have much experience with bows so I don't have a proper opinion. It is something I want to get into. However, saving for a house and taking care of the baby are priority at this point. Sent using my rotary phone.
  10. Hi! My name is Mike. Currently living in Baldwinsville, but from Oswego. Found the site looking for some NY specific hunting info and decided to join. I've been married for almost three years and have an awesome one year old daughter. I can't wait to get her into the sports! I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, etc. Just about any outdoor activity actually. Been getting ancy waiting for hunting season to open up and am looking forward to getting out into the woods in search of squirrel and later on rabbit, hopefully a deer, and possibly turkey. So, awkward intro aside, how's everyone doing?
