  1. Keep in mind when ordering a bow. Almost all manufacturers flub their numbers. Most run 1/4" up to 3/4" longer than stated. This is why I would never buy a DL specific cam bow unless you know damn well what DL you are and what said Manu really measures. You can tweak DL a little by twisting/untwisting strings. If you go with a rotating mod you can mess around with different lengths for the best results. In the end that's what were after. The best results.
  2. I see it happening just from my experience hunting public land for 15 years. Out of 16,000 acres I hunted you rarely bumped into anyone during the archery season. Come gun season. You have all these guys from NYC, CT ect... coming out of the woodwork. Majority of the gun hunter only are going to have the mentality that a X bow is just like a gun and they will be showing up from all over the place. Say bye bye to your peaceful archery season. Mark my words.
  3. I feel bad for all the public land hunters if they allow X bows during the archery season. It's going to be just like gun season minus hearing the gun shots.
  4. The door jamb method is probably the most effective tool to tell if you DL is long/short IMO. It is also free! You will immediately know where your at when you draw back as long as your leg and entire side of your body up to your arm pit is touching. Everyone I've had do this. Looks at me and says. "man that feels awkward". Well.....it feels awkward because you've been shooting the wrong DL for so long. Your body has gotten used to it.
  5. Now we're getting somewhere.
  6. Bingo!!! I'm more of a hands on than able to explain. I just thought it was pretty much common sense. Not to throw a curveball in the mix of your explanation, but now what will you need to do to get that string to touch your face after you have shortened the DL?
  7. I think the majority of archers out there are shooting to long of a DL. If you attend a shoot. Just watch how many guys on the line are leaning back. They believe it's the correct DL because their "pro" shop told them it was. I don't claim to be the best shot or have the ultimate perfect form, but I do know what to look for and know what to do to help someone out. I have a buddy that was an 240avg. in league and after getting his new bow and helping him get straighten out. He is now in the mid/high 280's. It's all about the results.
  8. To get where you want your hand to anchor. Moving your hand forward/ backward will not change where your face anchors to the string. Changing the DL settings will, unless you move your head/ body to accommodate for DL change which in return changes your form. Like I said before. This is all trial and error until you find what gives you the best results. It all comes down to what results you are happy with. If you want to believe D Loop changes your DL that's fine. We will just have to agree to disagree.
  9. It all basically comes down to form. Without good form. Your just not going to be consistent/accurate. I can shoot any DL somewhat accurately, but my form is going to suck! DL too long= leaning back, slapping arm with string and unstable/pull shots to right DL too short= leaning forward bent bow arm and unstable/pull shots to left DL perfect= Standing upright makes you most stable and slows down float pattern. Now. You finally get to the point of perfect DL and form is good. You lengthen your D Loop while keeping the same form. It will only move your release hand back. Shorten your D Loop. It will only move your hand forward. Now. You finally get to the point of perfect DL and form is good. You lengthen your DL. your form will be broken down/ leaning back to get that same anchor point you had when your form was good. You shorten your DL . Your form will be broken down / leaning forward/ bending bow arm to get that same anchor when your form was good. Form, form, form Without it. Your only going to be so accurate and some are happy with that. If you want to be the best you can be. It takes a lot of work and time.
  10. A shop can fix your equipment. They can't fix you. They can tell you what your doing wrong, but only you can fix it. If they can't tell you what your doing wrong. I suggest finding a new shop.
  11. You can shoot back tension with any release. I have my buddies longhorn that I practice with. I only hunt and shoot comp. with thumb trigger but shoot it with the back tension process. It's nice to have that trigger just in case you have to punch it. That's what we call a "drive by" when shooting target...lol.
  12. A set of Bomar stops on the cable stops systems will stiffen up the back wall and almost make it feel like a limb stop. I shoot with back tension so I'm running one bomar on the bottom. Feels perfect to me.
  13. NO! But if you have the same size d loop. Your DL will change your anchor point. Therefore you set your DL and use the proper length D Loop for your preferred anchor point. I'm beginning to think you find this amusing.
  14. I was trying to stay out of it. I did pretty good. 13 pages. I just couldn't take it anymore...lol
  15. Your DL is your DL. Plain and simple. If your not happy with your anchor. Change the length of your D loop. You start jacking up your DL. Your form and accuracy is going to suffer.
  16. IMO. Your not going to find any formula to give you the "perfect" length. You will get pretty damn close using wingspan, Wrist to buttons measurement, arrow marked ect... but the only way to get it right to the T is something only you can do with seeing the results of different lengths in 1/16" increments. On all 3 of my bows. They measure on the Draw board at exactly 28 1/4". That's the length that has shown me the best results.
  17. The marked arrow will get you close if you have good form. If your leaning back. You will get false readings for correct DL IMO.
  18. If you stand against a door jamb, basement pole ect... you will be in the up right position. Draw your bow back while standing with leg and side of your body still touching. This will give you a pretty good idea if your long/short on your DL. After I make adjustments doing that. I go right to shooting 5 feet away from target shooting bare shafts with fletched shafts. If BS are hitting left of fletched. Your DL is too short. BS hitting right of fletched. Your to long. There's a lot more to it than just taking measurements. Yes. That will get you in the ballpark. Then it is a lot of trial and error/fine tuning to get you to that exact DL. This is something that you most likely will have to work on yourself. There aren't many shops that will get this far in depth with you. They will get you close and depending how picky you are. The fine tuning will be up to you.
  19. You guys that are saying a D Loop changes your DL are killin me!!! It simply does NOT change your DL. It changes only your anchor. Go ahead and drop your DL 2" and add a 2" D Loop and let me know how that works out for you. I guarantee you that your accuracy will suffer big time. I think most people should worry about having the correct DL to begin with. I can't tell you how many times I see guys on the shooting line leaning back to make up for to long of a DL and they don't even realize they are. The best and most accurate way I've come across to find the right DL is to stand against a door jamb so your standing nice and straight, then draw your bow. You will immediately know if your to long or short.
  20. I've had a few sets from them. There are better to be had IMO. I've been using JBK strings for a few years now and have had many sets made and have not had any problems. His warranty is the best there is and his CS is outstanding. If you choose not to use JBK strings I highly suggest looking at other makers like, Johns customs, Park n sons , 60X ect... I just don't feel that VT's are on the same level as others.
  21. I will be sending emails. It won't be the responses your looking for. I can tell you that!
  22. Will you be shooting with the quiver on or taking it off when you get into the stand? If you just use it to carry your arrows until you get to the stand. I don't see any reason to spend a boat load on a quiver. The Trophy Ridge Lite 1 is a pretty sweet quiver. I just got one myself and it won't break the bank. Now. If your going to be shooting with it on. I've heard great things about the tight spot quivers. The one posted above looks pretty nice as well.
