  1. Hey Pheasant Run, would just anybody be able to attend the trial,to just watch,or would you have to enter a dog? I have only been to beagle trials, never a bird dog trial. Might shhot out there if I have time. Are you entering? anthony
  2. Paula, congrats, that is great, it is one of the best things about owning a pup, every time out will be better..
  3. Paula, not true in my experiences, actually may be the opposite, as if he has not bred before, his mind will remain on hunting ,either way every dog is different, and he should be fine. Just watch the weight,as I know with females they are prone to gain weight when fixed. Good luck with the surgery
  4. Thanks Karp, thanks for watching. The running season on the island comes to an end on the 15th, starts again in august, if you ever want to come along, let me know, can meet you there and b.s. for a while.
  5. Hey guys had 2 nice runs this am, both lasted about 15 minutes, Dogs were Bellmores Shimp, Pebbles , and Breeze Thanks for viewing Part #1 Part #2 Part#3 Part#4 after the runs on way back to truck
  6. Thanks Karp, at one point he was standing on side of trail just watching me, but camera was off, he stood that way for like 15 seconds, trying to listen to dogs and figure me out, was pretty cool.
  7. Ran 3 dogs today, Bellmores PUP E, Bella, and Breeze, they ran for about 30 mins, I was able to see the rabbit 8 times crossing trails before they lost him. thanks for viewing http://www.bellmorekennels.com
  8. sorry but not sure if state or private, I heard was state, but not sure
  9. rabbithunter, think season is over ,but the neversink beagle club in liberty is like 40 mins from you, and heard that the area around the club does have hare. Have heard schoharie and delaware county has hare, but I usually go to the adirondacks, or maine. Good Luck www.bellmorekennels.com
  10. Anybody have any info on this club, I believe they are located in Yorktown Heights, contact info needed.
  11. Karp, as long as stays cool should be ok not uncovering fig tree, but if gets to warm be carefull, as if it sweats could cause a fungus to grow on it and will die. My fig is already budding. Geno, I have a tree that produced about 300 white figs last year and a small one that anly produced about 4 or 5 purple figs. I prefer the taste of the purple, but both are real sweet.Good luck with yours, just be careful with the birds and squirrels if the one already has small figs, they will be ripe early, look into gettin a bird net for the tree, as one day when they are almost ready , you will come home and they will be gone.
  12. Yes karp me too, i planted 2 kiwi trees yesterday, and another rasberry bush, as well as trimming the blackberry bushes that were overgrown. Uncovered fig tree few days ago, thank god because yesterday was 80 degrees. Today have to rake the garden and clean up strawberry bushes and then have to till the garden and work in the manure. It is good hard work, that somehow makes you feel better about things and appreciate everything you grow.. Enjoy the weekend guys!!
  13. Swiss hound lulu, and beagles mandy and bellmores shimp running a rabbit 3/15/11
  14. Alot guys i hunt with leave fur on to freeze, they say it preserves the meat better from freezer burn. I myself like to skin before freezing, first because sometimes the pellets make blood pool under the fur, and i like to clean any blood from the meat. Second, my wife would have a heart attack if she opened freezer and opened a bag and found a head looking at her, LOL ???
  15. Will do karp, good luck in your search, if you find something and need another person to share them expense, let me know .I know the farmer that gives me permission to rabbit huntin used to lease for deer, I will asked him during the summer and let you know. How far out do you live?
  16. Hey Karp, yes yard work has begun, has to cut up couple trees that fell in my yard. Been running my dogs on rabbit, and for me same as going rabbit hunting, except no gun, but try to bring camera when I go. Used to hate this time of year as the hunting seasons are over, but now I welcome the change, and look forward to the garden and my fruit trees and seeing what produces. Also been busy with keeping geese off my lawn, as had to clean up 5 shovel fulls of poop. I went to dicks and bought a coyote decoy with a mooving tail and turkey decoys that move with the wind, and have not seen a goose since , Hope everbody has a nice spring
  17. Thanks Robinson, break them out and go for a run!! I run them every week execpt the months of may and june, as there are alot of baby rabbits and ticks, the ticks die down once it gets real hot in july. Thanks for watchin the video, will try to get more this upcoming weekend..
  18. Thanks pygmy, the deep chop is PUP E, he was bred and born in my kennel, he is 18 months old, and the squall is Bella, she is almost 3, the guy I got her from sold her because did not like her mouth. I prefer the chop, but as long as they can run a rabbit ,doesnt matter to me.
  19. You can start anytime, just do not expect too much. I would not expect anything really to click until around 6 months old, some start earlier, but do not push them, every one is different. Some do not start until almost a year, but if she chasing at 2.5 months old ,she definitley goin in the right direction>>>
  20. Took out Pup E , Mandi, and Bella for some exercise this morning, had a decent run lasted about 15 mins before going to a garbage pile. Dogs did ok, were applying a little too much pressure, but got the job done, could of been a little smoother, but had a nice run. Thanks for viewing http://www.bellmorekennels.com
  21. geno, exactly what I was trying say..
  22. Thanks steve. Hey arrow I agree that it is legal to hunt on unposted property,we each have our own view on what to do, but not every landowner will post property each year, and if they do not and the signs fall off or hunters or any body removes signs, and we go on that property and have issues with land owners, it Will affect us in a negative way, and any bad publicity we get will add fule to the fire of anti hunters and tree huggers that would like nothing better than to not hunt, escpecially long island. Hunting or entering onto private property and not having those bad experiences is something we can control, and if may either take a knock on a door or a telephone call to ask permission, I think it is a safer bet than having that land owner just say no to hunters because of bad experiences. Again this is how I see it, and we all have our own opinions. I used to own 40 acres upstate near liberty, and hunted deer and rabbit on it, I did post it but there was always an area in the back that ended up not having signs, and i told anybody entering just call me before they enter signs or not, and if I was not hunting would let anybody hunt. Guess what, after few months the signs stayed on the trees all year, and didnt fall off like before, when guys were giving me the no sign excuse. Again these are my experiences.
  23. Into the 7th page now and still same story, I can understand the argument from the guys saying they can hunt legally on unposted property(even though I do not agree with it), but can the same people understand how it is going to kill our sport one day? Also on hunting unposted property, and lets say 2 guys that do not have permission bump into each other and one claims to know the owner, but has no proof, should the other guy leave, and lets say he does not and an argument happens, and the law or dec gets involved, do you think anybody will ever be allowed to hunt on this property again? On long island this has happened, I am sure. I guess there is unlimited amount of property for us to hunt so it doesnt matter, right? Please guys, look at both sides of fence, and think of the future of hunting for our kids.
  24. Geno and Pat you are both 100% correct on this, everytime somebody pisses off a land owner it makes it worse for anybody looking to ask permission. Here is an example went rabbit hunting on saturday on a farm had permission to hunt on , my friend I went with knows the owner and has his tel number to call just in case. While we were hunting a guy that leases for goose hunting seen my truck and came over like a nut job, because of all the people that sneak on the property through a railroad, we were parked in front , on a main road by the farmers entrance gate, as we had nothing to hide. Anyway the guy was nasty, and although we had permission from the owner he was very rude until he actually heard us out, we could have been equally rude as we did have permission, but in the end would of been ugly. I really do not blame the guy, as I can imagine all the b.s. he has heard from people thinking ok to enter on property because on signs being knocked over or not in sight or whatever. As far as being able to enter onto not posted property, I do not post my backyard, does that make it legal for somebody to decide to come have a barbeque in my yard? The way same people think on this topic WILL cause us not to be able to hunt on L.I. one day. It has happened my beagles chase a rabbit onto posted property, I either put my gun down and get them back, or shock them to come to back to me, I know it is mean , but do not want to get arrested for tesspassing, for me it is rabbit, for some it may be antlers, but in the end we all have to deal with the same issues.Good luck trying to convince somebody of this..
  25. Hey karpteach, you are welcome, hopefully can post another before season is over
