I have been sticking to only hunting the cool weather, passing a lot of doe and small bucks. Hunted Monday morning out east and missed a nice 7pt at first light, couldn't stop him and rushed the shot. 30 minutes later I saw a doe in the distance and bleated to her and she ran right towards me. Took the shot at 15yds quartering away and it passed through out her left armpit, and right through the heart. She went about 30yds before falling over. First of many LI doe of the season, I will start laying them out when it gets colder. 100gr Slicktrick broadheads.

Nice one! Had one myself on Monday morning with a nice doe on LI. Went about 35yds, such a quick kill when it happens.

The club owns a HUGE field, any deer hunting is done on the surrounding county land that any Suffolk resident can hunt with the proper permits. Had problems with members thinking the county land was Their private spot. So if you joined for deer hunting you would basically be paying to hunt public land.

Looking for a 4w if anyone's not going to use it.
-
What poundage and what broadhead are you using, I'm curious.
-
Residents? I heard HFD will have it.

Never saw a difference between nocturnals and standard knocks.

Is he in a hunt able area?

Exactly what I said a few pages back, in the same boat LI and Catskills Hunter. I think if anything they should make it one buck per REGION. Two total per season.
-
I wouldn't even do a food plot, looks like a travel corridor spot. Would use it for bow hunting once and a while if I had permission too it. Not too much property, hang a stand and tread lightly til the opener.
-
If they went to one buck I would probably never hunt upstate again, I would shoot my buck here on LI and would not have a reason to go rifle hunting. Especially if I did not draw a doe tag that year. One buck per REGION I could see maybe

It's not as easy to donate on the Island as you think, every time I tried I was told that " we're not taking anymore this season", just to hear later that the owner was only taking deer from friends. I took several doe last season and got a lot of snickering and eye rolls from a lot of hunters, even got called a game hog buy a couple who "won't bother killing a doe". Antlers are king for many hunters on LI. I hunt a private piece that is hunted buy another Hunter and is over run with doe, and he got mad at me for "killing everything that walks". In the end I am a DEER hunter and am happy taking a buck or a doe.

Yes I have Been using them for three seasons now, before that I did not use lighted nocks but we're Leary of luminocks. The nocturnals have never failed me and I don't see any difference in arrow flight. they are pretty easy to turn off, and I would say the only downside is you cannot change a battery.
