I've been using a 44 magnum carbine with 255 grain hardcast bullets for hog with great results. Trying to make the transition to deer hunting, do you think this would be a good gun for the job?

I'm the only one of my friends from Long Island that's into hunting or the outdoors period, so it's kind of hard to just get up and hunt without knowing where I can. Can any of you point me in the right direction?

Hello guys I'm a pretty new hunter that's mostly done preserve/ranch hunts out of state. Im 37, live in Nassau County, and really want to start hunting in my own state. I'm hoping I can meet some awesome fellow hunters and get into NY hunting.
