Maybe it's because this will be my first solo deer hunt, but all I can think about is getting in the woods. I have in my mind that I might not catch a deer but I'm not really concerned about that. I keep seeing me posted up by a tree, shots sounding in the distance and me waiting for my prey to appear. I checked my gear list and I have everything I think I need, not all I want but all I need lol.

Who uses them when hunting? Or are u a good judge of distance.

I bought a 3r doe tag just in case. I wanted a 3p one but prob won't use it

Ok so I guess I'll be going for a buck only since I was denied 3p. It did say that I get preference next season though.

So can you buy more than one doe tag in order to get the area you want if it wasn't accepted for a previous doe tag purchase?

What's the purpose of the doe only permit? Can you kill a doe on your regular NYS hunting license or is it bucks only?

If you're out on a deer hunt and a big black bear appears giving you the perfect broadside shot, would you take the shot or wait for your deer?

Where are you hunting this season? I'm pretty much locked in on Sterling. Only and hour and a half drive from me (Nassau County) so I figure that'll be good for my first NY hunt.

Do you use a blind, sit with your back to a tree and stay put, do you still hunt , or a combination? Why do you choose this method? I intentionally left out tree stands.

After you've gutted your kill, what do you do with the guts? Can you leave them where they are or is it something special you have to do with them?
