I was going to get a savage 30-06 for this season but I'm really fond of my 44 mag carbine. I can carry it all day and don't notice it's there. It's currently sighted in at 50 yards and about 2 inches low at 100 yards

When you guys hunt in forest for deer what range do you sight in for. Do you go for 100 yards, 50 yards or something different all together?

When you go out for a deer hunt do you do single days, leave then return? Or do you camp out for a few days?

Good to know. I was looking at a few of the parks that u can hunt in Steuben. It's a 4 hour drive so imma save that as my last resort. Still looking for a rifle huntable area closer to nassau county thats maybe a 2 hour drive. Thanks for the info

You're right. I've notices the same thing. It's def harder to start out in your own and now with the addition of all kinds of rules and regulations, it's just that much harder. Those that were lucky enough to have someone guide them when they were young are blessed indeed.
