815 got it done on a nice hen. They came in from the back of the field, which normally they dont. Big flock of hens and poults. Then they start leaving the field prior to making it to were im sitting which is also not normal...but i watched 1 hen that always had her head up while the others fed. She was my target bird. She was getting ready to walk into the tree line and into the woods, settled the old mossy 835 on her neck and shot. Flop! Paced off twice 65 yards! Shes in the freezer and we are on our way to work a youth football game.

Turkeys are talkin in the woods...

I have till about 820 to shoot a turkey. If they come out to the same chunk of field they have been for the last 4 days its a done deal. Goodluck everyone!

Not alot of time to hunt tomorrow morning so im goin to try my luck at shooting a turkey in the face. Then my bil is coming over for a evening hunt. Be nice to get a turkey and a deer in the same day.

Nothin but deer in the field this evening. 3 bucks though so that was good to see.

Squirrels became annoying enough that im back in the house and loading up to go get'm.

Got in the tree around 8 after dropping kids off at school. Pretty excited for turkey opener tomorrow. Ive had turkeys in my field the last 4 days...which means i probably wont see them till the end of November now...

Live from my sun room. Had 3 toms and a jake in the field earlier, putting food away from dinner and looked out the kitchen window, noticed this guy walkin around in the field. 6pt

Im goin to post my year of varmint hunting here instead of multiple posts. Took my son behind the house this evening. First time for him coming out with me for yotes. About 20 mins in i was doin some rabbit distress on a mouth call, spotted eyes coming in. Red fox, got to watch him for awhile. He was figuring somethimg was off and started to head away, i hit the foxpro and a fox distress call. He came back out and sat down looking out towards the call. Just then yotes sounded off across the street in a corn field. Unfortunately they never came across the street. Good night for his first sit.

Rain in 8g currently. Just had a racoon wanting to climb my tree, kindly asked for him to leave and he did.

Keeping you guys in our thoughts. Hoping for quick and healthy return home.

Nothin to bring home. First set, 5 minutes into calling, a house just down the road with a bunch of young people start up a bonfire. Every time my buddy makes a call they start making animal sounds... managed to call in a dinky red fox pup, sooo cute. He was about 6ft from my buddy. Next set, setup in a large field, 10 minutes into calling we have a few yotes sound off pretty far away. We move to were we would see them if they come in. Get them to respond 1 more time but they are headed away from us. Last set, 10 mins in buddy has eyes 200 yards out, but hes watching down a narrow strip of mowed grass border by tall grass. The eyes move from one side of the tall grass to the other, occasionally peeking out. They never come in. 20 minutes into that set i have eyes running in, get on the gun and its a red fox, a no go, season not opened yet. He stuck around awhile and provided entertainment. Good first night out.

The rifle is definitely worth $400. The scope is a throw away.

Headed out around 9 with a buddy. Goin to be in the bennington area, hope we get a crack at one.

Another 6pt movin through...they have to get bigger eventually right?

Just had a 4pt and 6pt move through.

Had a doe and fawn feeding behind me at 50 yards. Winds blowing from them to me. This doe somehow picks me out through all the branches and blows and walks off. Im sitting down with maybe a shoulder and my head exposed to her. Crazy...she must die.

Feels like it should be a good morning. Tryin a different stand this am. Goodluck all.
