  1. Walking some state land near me and found a nice spot. Small rise with red oak and beech nuts. Between a swamp and open woods. Couple scrapes and a rub.
  2. Never ran it through a chrono. Just going off drop from 100, to 200 to 300. 700 i was at 6mils of elevation, only .3 for windage today. Like i said, id like to respray the targets next time to see were i was hitting. Or bring out a good sized paper target. That way i could actually make adjustments.
  3. Wind wasnt bad, but first time shooting this gun past 400 yards. I was using the strelok app for my elevation adjustment and windage. Thats based off my best guesstimate for velocity of these rounds too. Next time i go i have to respray the targets, if it wasnt a swinger i couldnt tell if it was a hit or not, too many splashes on the targets already.
  4. Took my grendel to potf shooting range in batavia. Walking it out to 700, started at 400, then 600, and finally 700. At 700 i went 4 of 7. Very hard to spot your own splash on a miss at that range with this little bullet. I was 3 for 3 at 1 point. Definitely gonna head back there soon.
  5. Gave the rifle a good scrubbing the other day, so decided to get it dirty today. First group is 3 shot 100 yard cold bore group. Then on to 200 yard 5 shot group. Was happy with that so the rest of the ammo went to the gong at 260. Love shooting this rifle. Going to see if i can get to a 700 yard range next week. Rifle is set for snow now too with its fancy ace bandge gun wrap stuff lol.
  6. Let the dogs out and let one fly before breakfast. 40 yards.
  7. My favorite series to watch. Not much else intrests me, its all the same stuff.
  8. First hard horn pic of the year. Plus some fat gobblers ive been after for 2 years now. The small guy with the branch, i just bent that branch over 3 days ago in a well used trail. Made a quick scrape that day, peed in it today No big bucks seen at all this year but that all changes when the ladies are ready.
  9. The way they worded it, its a genesee county thing. Im sure other sherriffs in other counties feel the same. It has to do with safe act stuff, and how much they care...
  10. A good friend and i have talked about doing a DIY archery hunt in Colorado for elk. Do you plan out packing in and setting up a camp, or are you using your vehicle as your base camp?
  11. We have the heart, and the tongue. He watched meateater and now wants to try the tongue.
  12. Well it was a good hunt for my son and father. The fallow doe was trickier than we were expecting. It snuck in behind us while we were watching a bison out in a field. It took off before my son could turn around. After that it turned into a deer drive. Our guide went out to try and push it back our way. Eventually it did but came through to fast for him, by the time it slowed down it was in some very tall golden rod. We eventually lost sight of it. The guide went around to try and cut it off but never found it. Turns out it bedded down about 100 yards out from us. As the guide was comin back it got up and was walking pretty fast through the golden rod, eventually it got to a area with lower grass and i gave it the "meh". She stopped and he made a great double lung shot. We watched it run off 50 yards and drop. Then the happy tears came and started shaking. Lots of hugs and high fives all around. My dads pig didnt come to easy either. Guide tried pushin up our way but they refused. We got down and started movin through the brush tryin to get them out and movin. Still no pigs, we came back up the property and past a field and thier were a group of pigs feeding. They saw us and headed into the woods. Got to stalk to about 60 yards and he made a head shot and dropped his pig. Over all it was a great time, good food. Now for some fishin and dinner.
  13. There will be plenty of photos, taking a little cam corder to record it all to. Ill tell him u said hello skillet.
  14. Last of the practice before we head out tomorrow afternoon. I know thats quite the artistic rendition of a deer... thank you lol
  15. When i was in the marines, for a short time i had a eotech holographic sight on my rifle. It was great for cqb, even putting shots on a human sized torso out to 100 yards (furthest i got toshot to with it) Before we went to iraq i got a acog on my rifle. Just a 4x but now i could put shots on a human torso to 625 yards (furthest we could practice to) i was still able to make accurate shots up close (5 yards). I have a scope on all my guns, whether im shooting at a deer or yote, at 20 yards or 300 yards i want to hit a specific hair on that animal, not its chest. If im only shooting 75 yards but its through some trees i want to be able to pick the hole out through the branches i want to shoot through. Summing all that up, i want to be as precise as i can be.
  16. I just picked up a ram. My first new ram ever. My gmc lease was up, priced them out with the 6.2l v8, the 5.3 to me is under powered. For a crew cab i was lookin at atleast a $60k truck. Too much for me. The interior of the fords dont do anything for me, so i checked out the rams. Would love to have gotten a Laramie but just to much. Got this bighorn for $43k. Heated seats, dual zone climate control, universal garage door openers. Has nice storage in the floor in the back seat. Motor feels good, very comfortable interior, it is cloth though. Its a lease also so if i dont like it, in 3 years they can have it back.
