I like to use box calls that I make myself from all kinds of wood, cherry seems to have the nicest sound to me and if they were easier to make I would use osage orange, it has a wonderful rasp to it and range, sadly I gave my last one away. This year I am trying a mouth call, so far, not so good, I keep losing my breath and the sounds aren't all that good, trying to master that dod gone 'Kee-Kee Run'!!!! There's a couple, those are made from curly maple left over gunstock wood. Robby

I just finished up making my latest turkey gun and took it out to pattern it. Its' a flintlock, 24ga., 48" barrel with a cherry stock. First shot was with a patched round ball, just to verify that my figuring and gut instinct of sight placement were close enough, they are. 80 grains of ff, 1-1/2 oz's. of a #4, #6 mix, i use this mix cuz A guy gave me a two liter bottle of it and I'm not even half way through it. Anyway, at twenty-five yards I'm pretty happy, and will probably experiment with powder amount and distance when the weather cooperates. Robby
