  1. Just wondering if anyone got lucky during the short Suffolk County season and took a bird?
  2. Thanks for the responses guys. I was thinking the moon might have a part in it also. I planned on going out this afternoon but this wind today is ridiculous. I'll probably still go out and get blown around up in my tree. Better to waste my afternoon in the woods than at home right? LOL Continued good luck to all and Happy Thanksgiving.
  3. I know a lot of guys are probably upstate gun hunting the past few days but I was wondering if anyone has been out bowhunting in Suffolk. I was having good action but all of a sudden its like someone threw a switch. I was out half a day Thursday, all day Friday, half a day on Sunday and all day Monday. Not 1 deer did I see. I tried different stand locations each day still nothing. I did talk to other guys who hunt the area I'm in and they are all not seeing anything either. Anyone else having the same disappointing results?
  4. Man that's some rub left by that Z7.....LOL. I also purchased a Z7 this year. I love it. Unbelievably smooth.Shot a Golden Eagle for 22 years so I guess you can say it was a slight upgrade ;D . Now if I can just get a deer in my sight this year I'll be alright. Good luck this season. Rich

I hunted Connecticut Hill a lot of years back. It's located in Tompkins county. I'm not sure if it's close enough to you. Its a little rough getting in there but I believe its 11,000 acres of Wildlife Management Area if I'm not mistaken. It has a good mix of terrain there. I've driven thru some of the access roads a few times but I only hunted there once back in the late 80's so I don't have a lot more info for you. I remember the day I hunted there that 2 hunters I ran into had each taken a big 8 pointer.
  8. Just an update....my buddy used some Mock Scrape on one of those scrapes he found the other day. He sent me a text pic of it and it was ripped apart. He checked it around 5:30 tonight. I'm going to bed now....going out at 5 in the morning. Hopefully some luck will shine down.
  9. My buddy took a walk today while he was working in a new spot we want to hunt. He said he found 3 fresh scrapes. Anyone else seeing any recent scraping?
  10. Beautiful buck HHC1!!!!!! Awesome job. Congrats!!!!!!!
  11. Suffolk County here.... Excited about this season. Finally replaced my 22 yr old Golden Eagle with a Mathews Z7. What a dream to shoot!!!!! Now if I can just get a big boy in my sights long enough.......LOL. Good luck to all this season
  12. I've been out only 3 times since Oct.1 but I've been seeing deer every time. My buddy shot 2 does last week with in 5 minutes of each other. One he dropped right down ( hit her high in the spine) and the second one he shot went about 200 yds. We tracked her for about 2 hrs and finally recovered her. Didnt get home till 10:30 that night. I was out all day Monday and had a small spike come in behind my stand around 8 AM. Smart little guy... he looked right up at me and then he moved off to my left but stayed right in the thick scrub brush.....never had a shot. Late that evening (I had moved my stand after lunch) I tried a few soft grunts. I didn't see anything and was getting ready to start climbing down when all of a sudden here comes a giant buck. It was about 6:15 and it was too dark for a shot. From what I could see he looked to be at least a 10 with real high tines and nice mass. One of the biggest I ever seen out on the Island. I'm gonna try again soon but moving my stand further back hoping to catch him a little earlier. I'll keep you posted. Good luck everybody this season!!!!
