As far as I know its still the same process. A self adressed stamped business style envelope with your back tag number on the back of it. It has to be at the Ridge,NY check station no later than 4:45 pm on the first Monday of December. The drawing will be on Tuesday.

Good luck to everyone for opening weekend in SZ. I wont be up for gun season but I will be off from work from tomorrow till the 28th. Hopefully I can put a small dent in the Long Island deer population over the next week and a half.

Your story makes me think of my grandfather. My grandfather was the one who got me hooked on hunting and fishing. He was more of a father to me than my own dad. I would always get excited before deer season just to sit with him as he got his gear ready to go upstate even though I was too young to go.I remember my first opening day of gun season when I turned 16 like it was yesterday. I hunted with him for years until he was diagnosed with leukemia in the summer of 1990 and finally became hospitalized from it. He passed away in the hospital in early spring of 1991. I always think of him when im in the woods. I am so thankful he turned me on to the outdoors.This is the first year of my son and I hunting together. I tell him to cherish the time together anytime he's with family and friends because life is way too short. My 3 girls aren't into the hunting scene but they do love to fish and camp. I just hope I can do as good of a job passing the outdoors onto them as my gramps did for me. Miss ya every day Grandpa. Hey Eagle congrats!!!! Did you take him upstate or on Long Island?

11/11/11- My son and I hunted a little different spot today. Saw one small 4 point as we were driving in to the spot. My son took a shot at a doe but missed her late in the afternoon. She was with another deer. He couldn't really make out the second deer. I was skunked once again. 11/12/11- We were out today again. Kicked up 2 big does on our way walking in this afternoon. I heard something crashing thru the woods around 3:30 pm but never got a look at what it was. Came from a real thick area to the left of my stand. I was hoping for maybe a doe being pushed by a buck but that never materialized. My son saw a doe just as he was getting down from his stand. The winds both days really sucked. Hopefully tomorrow something good will happen.

I'm gonna try the dual drag rag with each scent on it and then hang it in a good spot for a shot. We'll see what happens.

I just got an order delivered from Kishel's Scents based in East Aurora NY. I got a bottle of Buck urine and a bottle of Doe in Estrus urine. I heard that he had some quality scents. I've never been too lucky with using scents ( Buck Bombs and good ole' Tinks 69) but I figured I give it a try this year with his scents. I will say that the products definitely look like urine where as Tinks has a dark color to it. Just throwing it out there if anyone has used his products with any success?

Fan just be careful with a lantern inside the camper. Really with any combustible products because there is always the risk of carbon monoxide. Im not sure if you have a battery operated detector in the camper but it would be a wise investment if you dont. Im a firefighter on Long Island and we respond to numerous carbon monoxide calls a year. Just want you to be safe. Happy camping and good luck hunting.

Nice that you saw him at mid day Geno. He must be out starting to look for some girls....LOL. I'll be out all day tomorrow. Wish I was in my stand myself not at friggin work. I hope for some action tomorrow. The way my season is going so far it can't get much worse
