Their website http://www.sawyerproducts.com/products.htm says that Bass Pro Shop and Cabela's carry it. You can also order direct from the website. I'm not sure if any other local places carry it.

LIWaterman, Did you try looking up the Sawyer's spray on the Web? Maybe you can find some other dealers out there?

I plan on being out Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Got a 3 day weekend with my shift change at work so I'm psyched. Hopefully I have some luck on my side. Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to a great season this year!

Thats awesome!!!!! Great pics!!! I'm going to have my son in the woods for his first year of bowhunting. He's 15 and has gone out in the woods with me in the past but this year he wanted to do it for real on his own. He took his safety classes and I bought him a new bow this year. I'm not sure who's more excited.....me or him....LOL. My buddy also turned on his 18 year old niece and 17 year old nephew to becoming bowhunters this year.We think it's awesome that they are so excited about it. It's never too late. We all need to pass on the outdoors to the younger generation. They all seem to be out of touch with the "real world" living in this "wonderful technology age". I will try to post some pics of my kids fishing over the summer later on.

Sorry to hear about the cam CB. That really sucks. I always worry about mine being taken also. I think next time I check mine I'm gonna put it up about 12-15' up in a tree angled down toward the trail. I know its still not theft proof but it will take a little more effort to steal it and it will be above eye level. There really is no way to keep them 100% theft proof but if the rotten bastards want to steal it they are going to have to get their lazy ass up the tree.Hopefully you get rewarded with a nice big buck this year.

My buddy and I set my Moultrie cam out last night. Hope to have some pics by the weekend. Always worried that someone's gonna find the cam but it doesn't do any good sitting home in my bag. We picked up the Sawyer's spray( with Permethrin) from Archery Forum in Medford. 10 bucks for the 9 oz. can. Sprayed the crap out of our clothes, taped up the pants and tried not to disturb the trails in and out too much. Neither one of us could find a single tick on us. We don't think we picked up any chiggers either. It did a great job on the mosquitoes too. They began to buzz around as the sun went down but they never landed on us. The can says that the treatment will last thru 6 washings. With some luck I'll have some pics to post soon.

Any young hunters get lucky during last weekend's youth hunt bagging a Long Island turkey? I hope so. Maybe they can post some pics or reports.

Geno, I was pleased going to Archery Forum in Middle Island. I bought my new Z7 there last October. Chuck knows his stuff. He let me shoot his own personal bow ( Bowtech Destroyer to see if I liked it). I ended up going with the Mathews and I love it. He also lets you shoot for a year free in the small range he has after breaking the bank on the new set up LOL. Hope the info helps. Let me know how you make out and if you have any more questions. Good luck. Rich

I just counted the calendar.....228 days till Long Island bow season opens!!!!!!!!!WHOOOOOOOO

Man talk about cabin fever!!!!!!! I'm going stir crazy with no hunting till spring turkey. Anybody else bummed out too????? Can't stand this......LMAO!!!!!! Oct.1st can't come soon enough!

I bought a new Z7 back in October 2010. I shot a bunch of bows at the shop and narrowed down to either the Z7 or the Bowtech Destroyer. They both shot incredible. The Bowtech felt a little lighter in my hand but I felt much more comfortable shooting the Mathews. Both were extremely smooth to draw. Speed wasn't a big deciding factor in my choice seeing that I was retiring my old Golden Eagle shooting aluminum 2219's with 125 grain Thunderheads. Either bow was an extreme gain in speed LOL. Price was basically the same for either bow set up with top of the line accessories (about $1300+) so price wasn't a factor either. I am totally pleased in my decision. Too bad I was skunked hunting this year...LOL. Good luck in your buying process....have fun shooting!!!! Rich

Southhaven County Park - Can you deer hunt there??
RichZ7 replied to longislandhunter's topic in Region 1
I know there is waterfowl hunting in the park but I don't believe they open it up for big game. I could be wrong though. I know there is some nice deer in there. I've camped a few times at Southaven and the deer are sometimes walking around the sites in the morning. -
Thanks for the info guys. Merry Christmas to all.

Me and my buddies are hunting East Hampton Jan. 20th. Parking spots 13 and 14 on Hither Hills property. Hopefully there will be a few deer left over by then...LOL. Anyone ever hunt out there before? Any info would be appreciated. I never hunted out there. Also anyone know where the Check Station is located out there? Thanks, Rich

I'm planning to get out Sunday and Monday. Hopefully a little snow and they will be moving around. Merry Christmas everyone.
-
I didn't go out today. Wish I would have. Bet they would have been moving a bit. Went out yesterday (Monday) in Yaphank from 12-4:45 pm. I had 1 doe come in around 3:45 on my right side directly towards a big blown down tree. Turned around in my stand ready for a shot but of course she circled around the far side of the blow down. Watched her for 15 minutes in the ice cold drizzle. Hoped for something tailing her. Waited till dark...... nothing. Still made for a decent day out.

I am pretty sure it is illegal. It is considered baiting whether its food or an attractant.

Suffolk was open Nov. 20th -24th. Bird of either sex.

I got 756. Pretty good for me. Usually I'm in the 1000's too. Good luck in January.
