  1. Can anyone recommend a smoker. I am interested in smoking some venison, ribs etc. Thanks.
  2. I was in 7M last Sunday, I had some Toms gobbling at me but couldn't get them to come into range.
  3. My buddy and me built this on the property this weekend. I need to finish the exterior, it is OSB. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  4. The plot is going to be about an acre. The roto tiller may be a bit small for that.
  5. Being this is my first year with my own property I am interested in putting in a food plot. I have read dozens of articles and have friends that instructed me about soil testing and their opinion on what to plant. My question is about a local renal company that rents what they call a 5' tiller. Is this what I need to turn the soil to get ready for planting?
  6. The hunting was on the slow side, out of 12 of us we took 7 hogs. I believe 2 or 3 missed their shots. Food was excellent.
  7. I have a few elevated hunting blinds on my property and I want to add a heater to one of them so I can take my little guy out with me starting this year. I have read that some have used propane heaters. My concern is tipping off the deer with any odor. If anyone has info or previous experience your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  8. erussel, it's a wild hunt and I am going to use a 30.06. If I am successful I will attempt to take one with my bow. Thanks for the information.
  9. I am heading to South Carolina in a few weeks for a wild boar hunt. Being that I haven't done this before, I was looking for some tips/hints from anyone with some experience. Thanks.
  10. I am currently in the process of building an elevated hunting blind and I am using Oriented Strand Board (OSB) as the exterior sheathing. Can anyone recommend what I can use to protect it from the elements? I know that a good oil base paint should do the trick, but I was wondering if a wood sealer would be better. I put a lot of time and effort building it so I would like to do my best in protecting it. Any help is appreciated.
  11. Has anyone tried pumpkins as part of your food plot. I have a friend of mine from New Jersey who claims that the deer love them.
  12. Red, I also have been watching a bunch of videos about this product on youtube, plus it seems that every website that sells them the reviews are excellent. I am going to start the project hopfully this week.
  13. I recently purchased 2 sets of hunting blind elevators that are made by a company named Shadow Hunter. The steel brackets are made to accept a 4 x4 post into the bottom and a 2x6 at the top (to hold the frame). The 4x4 post is set at a 8 degree angle for proper balance of the structure. I am very handy and don't feel I will have any problem building the two blinds. Has anyone had any experience with these? Good or bad? Thanks.
  14. Courtguy2005, we can go over it again. Food plots and scents are legal. From the DEC website: It is illegal to hunt with the aid of bait, or over any baited area when hunting big game, upland game birds, turkey or waterfowl.
  15. You are not required by New York State to post private property. However, you are required to know where you are hunting. Property that isn't posted is not an invitation to trespass and hunt. Plenty of state land for non-land owners.
  16. Anyone have success with food plots that are designed to attract turkey?
  17. Any reports on 7M. Thanks.

    DMP 7M

In the mail yesterday was a letter from the DEC along with a doe permit. The letter stated that they received fewer DMP applications than anticipated, so I was randomly selected from a group who were previously denied. The best part is that I get to keep my preference point for next year.
  20. Thanks for the info everyone.
