  1. What would you do if that came walking by while you are in the stand? lol
  2. Use large jalapenos, slice off the tops and gut out seeds. Stuff with seasoned tator tot then wrap with bacon. Put a toothpick through to hold together then deep fry. Yummm.
  3. 99.9% sure this is photoshopped. I call bull s*#t!!
  4. Yeah it is nice to see. Hard to find kids playing outside anymore. Wolfes Pond will have a freshwater pond again. The pond is still there, they are just rehabbing it.
  5. Believe it or not they still play street hockey all the time on my block. Its still alive lol. Basketball too and wiffle ball too. Wolfes pond did get nailed bad but fortunately they are rebuilding it better than it was. I was fortunate enough to see the plans and it should be real nice.
  6. Its alot more rural than all the boroughs. Dont get me wrong you definitely have your conjested areas and its no catskill mountains but you need to explore staten island a little more to really know and you will definetly see it can support more than you think. There are two very different sides of staten island.
  7. Good shot placement. That rage made a nice hole.
  8. I am assuming you have never been to staten island. Staten Island is heavily wooded with alot of big acre parks and has areas that any wildlife could make a sanctuary without human disturbance. It is a perfectly natural environment. As a matter of fact most of Staten Island didnt start to develop until the mid-late 1970s and prior to that was all farm and woodlands. The wildlife in staten island is what sets it apart from the other boroughs and I for one would like to see it stay that way. Staten Island actually doesnt even resemble any of the other boroughs and I will take you areas of staten island that would make you think you are in dutchess county!
  9. I moved to Staten Island when I was a kid and for the first time I saw kids playing in the street lol. I had alot of great memories then my family moved to brooklyn. Once I got married and saved up some money I came right back to Staten Island and bought a house. Within the first week all my neighbors introduced themselves and we were on a first name basis. I lived in brooklyn for most of my life and never knew 3/4 of my neighbors besides the fact that most of them didnt speak english lol and thats not a knock on brooklyn cause I love it there for other reasons. Gateway is open and they have made it really nice. Great trails and beautiful beach and marina. Wolfes Pond park is under major renovations and should be something really nice when they are done.
  10. The only thing I am concerned about is that the city or state is going to eradicate the herd on its own just like they are trying to do with the turkeys.
  11. Lets see some more pics.
  12. I agree I think it would not probably turn out too good however it is not because there are not places to hunt but more because of the one or more idiots that may ruin it by doing something stupid whether it be an anti or a hunter.
  13. Take it easy there. I actually like where I live and most peopIe I know and come across in Staten Island are good people so you may not want to go down that road. As for the wildlife, The pheasant are gone but I see tons of wildlife near my house all the time. I live right near Gateway park and I have seen dolphins, seals, turtles, salamanders, snakes, deer, rabbits, skunks, hawks and eagles. Thats right I said eagles. Bald Eagles have been spotted numerous times in multiple areas on a regular basis.
  14. Believe it or not there are a few tracts of land with enough space that could be safely hunted. Staten Island has alot of wooded acreage and state and city parks that is continous 50+ wooded acres and even tracts over 100+ acres. I am on the fence about whether or not I would give out tags to hunt in staten island only because of some irresponsible person that will not be able to get the job done properly but there is definitely land that could be hunted without disturbing the community.
  15. That is right by Bed Bath & Beyond if I am not mistaken. I see them there all the time. There are a few Booners over there. Crazy!
  16. Great looking buck. Thats a wall hanger in my book.
  17. Depends on stand location. If I am going into the woods then 30 minutes before sunrise. If I am hunting over a field then about 45 minutes before sunrise. If it is raining then I will go in a littler later cause it stays darker alot longer. One time I almost gave up going in the dark because one area I hunt is an old cemetary and apparently I disturbed some turkeys that were roosting right above. Make a long story short I almost had to go home and change my boxers.
  18. Go to DF Brothers Sports Center at 7919 17th ave across the street from New Utrecht High School. He should have targets.
  19. I have an opportunity to head into Northern Zone for the regular season opener this weekend and hunt 100 acres of private land. I have been told it has a 1000ft wide active beaver dam which will be exciting to see. Any body hunt the Rome area? If so what should I expect as far as deer population and agriculture?
  20. Thanks everybody for the recommendations. I think I am going to try out a thin glove with the muff. Seems sensible.
  21. Speaking of swamps I am hunting a new 70 acre property this year with two swamps on it. It will be the first time I am ever hunting a swamp. I put a tree stand right along the edge but I am nervouse if I shoot a deer it might head into the swamp and I am not to keen on the idea of going in after it lol. Check it out.
  22. That looks like a definite option. I dont have big hands so gloves never seem to fit me right and always feel bulky. Thank you.
  23. Anybody have any good recommendations of a good pair of cold weather gloves?
  24. I have been there twice. My buddies and I decided to make it a new tradition to head over there every march. Stuff is very expensive but awesome place to visit.
