  1. One thing I am curious about is why my stock Has # stamped on bought sides different #'s. It has the big S stamped on top of the barrel And that I be leave was done when they converted Some rifles over to 8/56. ?.maybe when it was in different Arsenal s they restamped the stock.?. These old rifle's are fun to try and figure out.
  2. Found another site with a lot of In fo. On military surplus and reloading info. They are using the .330 CIA. Bullet. But they have slugged there bore first. So I guess that will be another .day.
  3. Just came back from the shop. Picked up another box Of hornady ammo. Had them look for a bullet supplyer Of .329 dia. Bullets came up O. He has a drawer full of the clips. I won't run out of them. The bore looks really good. The dies are on order. But won't be much good With out tips. Carry On.
  4. Got 3 mag clip s 3 boxes of ammo. 1 hornady 205 gr. Soft points ppu. 208 gr. So. And ppu. 208 gr. FM.j. Ordered the dies as well.. I will enjoy a lot of time on the range with this rifle. On the hornady box .mz.vl. 2410. With the 205 gr. Everyone have a great weekend
  5. Picked one up It does everything it should just fine. Loads , feeds, ejects, dumps mag clip out The bottom. Like a M1 upside down. Took to the range for a quick test.shoots High at close range which is normal. This is my first 5 rounds
  6. No problem. , never seen the tree before. And never seen a tree that size marked by a buck, on our farm. In close to 40 years.
  7. Called the shop it's a 8/56 and he has ammunition there From looking at some loading data it Push's a 200 Gr.bullet around 2300. That's better than some 35 rem's.

  10. The more I think about this the more I like it I am going on a recon mission sat. Looking for their bunker. Find out how many inhabitants there are and what there travel routes are most used, then come up with a plan. I am going to have to fig.out how to get in and out With out being detected. I mite have to look for a used drone for this mission.
  11. Anybody try to use there surplus rifle for shooting Woodchuck s or coy dogs ? I think it would be fun to try. What due you guys think. Come to think of it , I be leave my uncle has a couple chucks around his place. I am going to ask If he would mind if I do some target shooting With my yugo.

  14. Every old military rifle has a story to tell They are a rich part of our history every bit as much as any state blue and gold sign along our highway s. That say George Washington was hear. They need to be saved. Some brave Serviceman carryed it into battle.

  16. Does your 99 have the air plane wings on the rear sight they are cool. I wounded if they really worked trying to lead a p51 Mustang. I drought it.
  17. I always had hunting dogs wile growing up till I went into the service. I had coon dogs and or beagles. It would scare me to death today to turn my dog loose Ware I live anymore. , to much traffic on even on my back roads. You can't walk 50 yds. With out passing a dead critter that's ware my rabbit or dog would be.

  19. The cost of my license has gone up & UP and UP. $ 93.00 last week . Ammunition $ 5.00 a box now $ 40.00 a box.
  20. That's funny I have the same setup on a m24/47. speeking of ugly I think my next return mite be a mod 99. 7.7+58 . My G.S. has one that has been sitting there for over a yr. Its one that only a mother could love. Its ugly even after someone Chopped it up.
  21. Just wounder if anyone here has picked up a sporterized Old military rifle and put it back to the way it was As a proud military rifle. I just finished one. And had a lot of fun looking For all the parts , complete stock and hardware Took some time .but what a great shooter it is. I will be looking for another one I am sure I will post a pic later #4 Mk1 * Long branch.
  22. Anybody here ever pick up a old military rifle that someone sporterized and return it back to the way it was when it was carryed on the battle field. I just finished one. A long branch #4 Mk1 *. Still have a few thing for it..l need to pick up. I know I posted some of this before. Was hopeing Some other guys would tell us about their project. I think I should make this a new post. So I don't change the topic of hunting.
  23. It shouldn't be to bad with varmit loads. I use to load custom bullets in my rigby they were 41 mag pistol Bullets HP. That was reworked a little and had a Polly Tip put in the HP. All said and done it came out about 198 gr,s. You don't have to use a compressed powder charge.
