You guys are making a lot of good points G-man they do like spruce for sure but we don't have many of them. Mostly around here they like Young white birch shumack Young hard wood saplings

I hunted with one for a lot of yrs. Put it in a composition stock that I swear made it weigh more. But it was a good shooter.

I found this mark right after deer season. Its a place that I don't check on much during deer season. But I due Now. Its quite a walk from the house on the old farm to this place. And that yr I was seeing a lot of bears about every 6 weeks they would be by two tear down my bird feeders. Here's one sitting on my feeder.

I hope some more guys give there vote on this. Could of been a small bear or a cat of some kind. ? It sure was meant to be a sign post and in your face. Here I am. Right along a wood road.

That's what I think Doc. It looks like bite marks on the tree as well. Its kinda low on the tree but the bear could have been sitting down when he or she did this. And deer don't pick a pine tree to rub All that much.

Yup later today I will get a pic.. can't believe nobody else bid on this rifle I got it for under $200 Maybe because it was in HI. But the guy shipped it to me in 5 days.

My winter project just came in late this after noon. A US Springfield 30/40. Krag.it could never be a collecters piece Again but can be a really cool deer rifle for next year. She will be ready for Newcomb next yr.

Sorry I didn't get to Finnish my post. Don't see how to edit the post so I have to do it here What I wanted to add was I hope my uncle gives me the first chance to buy his deer rifle , I walked a lot of miles true the woods with him and his marlin. That is when he hands it up for good. He can still clime up in the seat of his oliver 550 and brush hog a field @ 86 yr. Old. God bless um.

I like the the older marlins. My uncle has a old 30/30 that he traded his. 1940 ford for when he got out of the service. He had another car. He didn't have a deer rifle. I

NY buckhunter27 This is a butt-cuff they can.if you like pad the butt a little bit to help Recoil.

Shoots great with the scope. I have the peep sights on my 450Marlin, it depends on were I go hunting what I carry . The matching butt - cuff and belt cartridge holder was made by lever leather. First class job. The folding knife holder was made for me by a guy in Texas. P.s. the cuff on the rifle is a cuff. Not a butt - cuff. I have rifles wit butt-cuffs. They slip over the hole butt.

I all.most got a 35 whelen a yr or so ago. A shop by me had about 6 of them all CVA scout V2. They were super light. They have to kick like a mule
