I went back sat to check my stand its still there I did some mock scrapes (3) to see if they get hit I will hunt in in two weeks give some time to cool down tem wise ....set another stand on county property for my friend and his son came across a trail cam and smiled gave two thumbs up ...looks like he had some kind of liquid on a old log it was all beat and mushed up ...

IT DOES SUCK some times I have to leave my house way early just to get a spot I don't do the check in stuff but I do hunt the # spots with the county and state permits I have done well nothing big but enough for the freezer .I can hunt on a farm but it a pre dawn shot or a twilight shot and I have to pay ..and if the goose hunters shoe up im done they pushed the filed out

you have to put you time in walk around when you know people are not hunting rain wind crapy weather this way you scent goes away ...I use a topo map first and bing map ariel view because you can change direction....also prevailing winds are w nw in the winter ...use the wind .. I used it for my first hunt in Otis pike .......I had a 7 pointer 60 yrds come past me and my friend took it.......second time in had a 130 class 8 and two big sixes ....they are there ...deer don't like open wood hunt the edge of burn areas you will see on bing maps it will be brown

only reason I left it was its a long walk with gear in am prob about a mile in there are houses that but up against the state property it might be one of the locals but your suppose to pack in a designated spot .....I do at least ....that why walk is so long ..if he /she is local then its a less then 1/2 for them I would put a pic up but don't want to spot burn here some peeps get mad

the ones I could see I pulled off they were the size of the dot in (i) they itch like holy hell but question is after you get bit how long do the tick larve last do they die or move on and bite again .......

THE STANDS ARE BOLTED THREW AND HAS 10 PENNY NAILS AS STEPS VERY OLD SCHOOL . MINE IS A HANG ON WITH A LOCK HE DOES HAVE NEW CHAINS ON THE STAND THAT I DID NOTICE ....

ALSO FOUND SOME CHIGGERS OMG NOT GOOD AND NOT FUN

SO I SET MY STAND THIS WEEKEND BUT WERE I WANTED TO SET IT THERE WAS TWO STANDS ALREADY IN A TREE HOME MADE STANDS I DID NOT THINK THERE WOULD BE ANY BUT I GUESSED WRNG . SO I SET UP 100 YRDS AWAY IS THIS WRNG ....IT IS ON STATE PROPERTY AND HOPE IT DOES NOT GET STOLEN I DID PUT A LOCK ON IT BUT YOU NEVER KNOW .....TAKES ME 30 MIN WALK IN

great read all hunts are what you make of it ...when I was 17 I had the chance of a life time to kill a huge 10 easy 150 class up in Westchester are I had the deer 20 yrd broadside but I was shaking so bad I could not draw the bow back . this was the buck we called mr smith .. I was not able to harvest the deer but I was able to see him so close. to this day he is my trophy there is no pics but a good story to tell at the table....

question what are you looking for in the woods as far as trees were I hunt there is a lot of red oak a few white oak and a pond ....am I looking for runs . the wood are sort of thick knee high brush there is a main trail going into and out of woods . there is also small pine trees the woods are big were I hunt its very hard to find out were they are bedding during the day .....any help would be great ...the pic of buck was what my friend shot last year in these woods I used the topo map and bing and was our first time in theses woods

anyone ever hunt the northfork preserve if so what are your thaughts

Otis is just a prking pass but I go to some county land as well may head there sat to set a stand

Green key you can get at cathedral pines on middle country rd or at sayville golf course Otis is ahold spot not a lot of deer but good quality I had a 130 class 8 last yr bust me talk about the shakes he was 20yrds coming at me but it's a hike to get in I'm gonna set a stand and hope it does not gets stolen
