Some points extracted from this very astute article. For three months, public officials abdicated their responsibility to balance the costs and benefits of any given policy. They put the future of hundreds of millions of Americans in the hands of a narrow set of experts who lack all awareness of the workings of economic and social systems, and whose “science” was built on the ever-shifting sand of speculative models and on extreme risk aversion regarding only one kind of risk. Anyone who warned that the effects of the lockdowns would be more devastating than anything the coronavirus could inflict was accused of being a heartless capitalist who only cared about profits. Government officials, having shut down commerce due to unblemished ignorance of how markets work, now enabled the torching and looting of thousands of businesses due to the shirking of their most profound responsibility: protecting civil peace. One thing did change markedly between the coronavirus lockdowns and the riot lockdowns, however: elite wisdom regarding social distancing. The politicians, pundits, and health experts who had condescendingly rebuked business owners for reopening without official permission, who had banned funerals and church services of more than ten people, and who had heaped scorn on protesters who had gathered in state capitols to express their economic distress, suddenly became avid cheerleaders for screaming crowds numbering in the thousands. Blue state governors and mayors ordered law enforcement to stand down or use at most (in New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s words) a “light touch” with the rioters. By the time these progressive public leaders realized that something more forceful needed to be done, it was too late. The fire of sadism and hatred could not be contained, but would have to burn itself out. Previously, securely-employed public officials breezily dismissed their constituents’ anguish over unemployment and growing business failures. Now those same officials, safe behind their security details and publicly-owned mansions, foreswore the activation of the National Guard and military. None of those officials owned businesses, so they faced no loss either from economic quarantine or from physical rampage. One could just as easily argue that a global depression, induced by the gratuitous crushing of trade and the hollowing out of capital, is a lethal public health issue of at least equal magnitude. But it turns out that public health is as much about politics as it is about science. America’s Founders, schooled in a profound philosophical and literary tradition dating back to classical antiquity, understood the fragility of civil peace and the danger of the lustful, vengeful mob. Our present leaders, the products of a politicized and failing education system, seem to know nothing of those truths. Pulling the country back from the abyss will require a recalling of our civilizational inheritance. Shoot a few and the rest will realize they like living more than protesting. This type of action has worked in the past.

Legalize all drugs. Remove the money from the criminals. Keep the government out of the drugs too. No taxes on drugs to enrich the government. Stop wasting tax dollars on a drug "war" that will never be won. Let them use drugs all they want and make them pay for their own rehab when they need it. At least if they die from drugs, they prove to be a fine example of people who cannot handle freedom and refused to accept responsibility for their self inflicted demise. Demands for gun control are nothing more than the government using a totally unrelated problem it created, to further their demands for more power over the masses. The government knows the above approach would stop all of these shootings, but that is not going to disarm all of the citizens.

Virgil keeps calling them "crowd". It was a MOB. When a mob appears anywhere, standing your ground with a firearm is the way you say, "I feel threatened and I'm warning you not to try anything, or you will regret it." Yes people should be able to point a firearm at an unruly mob before it becomes violent. The potential for deadly harm is there. There is no legal justification for a threatening mob and the police can shut it down on sight. The fact they were ordered not to, is a dereliction of duty on behalf of their superiors.

You seem to be very supportive of mob rule, where they can violate the law and strike fear in people's hearts with impunity. Yet when the mob causes tremendous fear in regular citizen's lives, they are the one's that should be arrested. That's how mob rule achieves power. You need to rethink the extrapolated ramifications of your beliefs.

That's a video of a pedestrian gate, not the one vehicles drive through to get into the property. It's obvious video is being selectively applied here. I suspect this was taken well after the main mob had already passed the house thorough the main gate.

The big question is whether this poll is an accurate reflection of where America is as a country, or whether it’s a reflection of the power of mainstream media pollaganda. The answer is likely evident to anyone objectively viewing the data: the power of MSM pollaganda. There is a constant media drumbeat telling us how awful the U.S. is, down to its very founding. People are subject to it every day not only in the news but in sports commentary, TV shows, and social media. Do you understand the "Legal System", which is the correct term, because there is NO justice, but it's all legal, is in question here because the prosecutor is politically motivated in this case? That's the legal system BLM Marxists want. That's something any intelligent citizen would be against. BLM claims the system is racially biased, when all scientific and statistical data proves it isn't. This case provides evidence it can be abused when the left controls it.

Anyone who supports 500 violent rioters, that broke down a front gate in a private community and marched forward in a threatening manner, some of which were said to be brandishing arms, as opposed to responsible citizens who worked their whole lives for what they own, is either a Marxist sympathizer or bleeding heart liberal fool. That couple was fearing for their lives because they made numerous phone calls for help, to the police and private security firms, only to be told nobody would respond. They were on their own. They were forced into a position they never prepared for and had no real idea how to handle. That crowd was heading towards the mayor's house in the community and they weren't planning on being "peaceful" when they got there. The McCloskey's didn't create that situation. They were forced to deal with it. Putting any credibility in videos taken by rioters, which are always edited to eliminate any evidence of their criminality, is beyond naive. As far as whether that couple should have to spend thousands to defend themselves against a politically motivated prosecutor, why should anyone be made to fear being prosecuted for exercising their right to self defense? Anyone who thinks they should is no friend of responsible gun owners or the 2nd Amendment, because this is how the anti-gun crowd intimidates people who choose to stand up for their rights as opposed to kneel to the tyrants that want them to comply with mob rule. They were and they were making threats to kill them and burn their house down. Besides, they tore down the gate. Everything inside the gate is private property. Their governor is actually quite pissed about them being charged. You know he will pardon them before they go to trial.
