Why if you are good with a bow would you want to use a xbow in all of archery . That makes no sense . If I could shoot a recurve as good as my compound bow I would never use a compound bow for example . Be honest you don't want to take the time to get really good with your compound bow and know xbow easier you will be able to take more deer with it that's why so simple .

Maybe so why change things . Leave as is

Well up there the public land is not that over populated. The farther you get away from NYC the less people you find on public land and the better it is .you guys up there have it good . I do have access to 400 acres of private land near the caskills but its to far I don't like to drive that far anymore . I just take my chances with billy from the Bronx joe Joe from state island lol all the other guys I see from NYC that I see hunting public in Putnam . Lol

I here they work well out of then you just have to clean barrel more often

Yep and you would feel even less safe with more hunters around that you don't know with a cocked xbow then just a bow that takes time to shoot . Especially here near NYC public land .

I bet you don't bow hunt or xbow on public land during gun season lol I have never seen a bow being used in gun season on public land ever and I been hunting for all most 40 years .

I bow hunt and gun hunt to but seriously who bow hunts and keeps bow hunting even when its gun season . The number would be almost 0 . Everyone just switches to gun . You never see bow or crossbows being used in gun season That's why I like different seasons . And I like having less guys in the woods during archery . It's better to have separate seasons like it is now . Here is another exampls when scopes came out to the public. Almost every hunter started using them .and not iron sites It would be the same with xbow in archery. Every hunter will see how much more accurate they are and eaay they are and probably switch . Just like they did with iRon sites or recurve bows .

Are you joking me if you are hunting private land it does not matter one way or the other nobody is going to go hunt there . It only makes a difference if your hunting on public land because we have to deal with the exstra hunting pressure there you don't . Nobody in there right mind who just hunts public and only wants to use a bow wants more guys there . Lol its that simple .

They only give out so many dmp permits more deer killed by crossbows will mean less dmp permits in gun season . Because they definitely are going to be alot more hunters in the woods for archery

Really and then maybe you can give us you address of the private property you hunt on and let's see how you injoy the extra hunters there . Like I will injoy the already over hunted public lands I hunt on with all those exstra xbow guys that show up . Lol

No good there to easy to use to many guys will get out there with them and come gun season it will be slim picking all the deer will be spooked off . It will mess up archery season and gun season .

All that poll showed is there are more gun hunters then bow hunters . People that actually can shoot a bow don't want a crossbow or want them hunting there season you don't need a poll to figure it out .

O yea, it's trice as much work with out the deer just bush wacky and even more so on hilly ground then add I deer and it's a tuff

My dad shot huge one in the caskills one year up on the mountains . He said half way out he was thinking of just leaving the deer right there lol And i think that was the last time he went hunting until I got him to go a few times with me again. Lol years later . Btw he said that big old deer tasted like shit tuff meat lol he goes to me any time I go hunting you shoot a young one bring it to me you shot a old one donate it to charity or make dog food out of it lol

O I didn't think about that part . I guess I will aim for the back of the neck then maybe that is if I can see it . BUT then again if it's a moster buck and that's the only shot you have . I may take my chances . Don't no most likely I will hesitate and the deer will get away before I can shot

I just never thought about it before I'm just precondition to gun shoot at vitals basically from the front or side angles of a deer . Those are the shots I have experience with . But now that people are telling me it's effective I may try it but only if it is a really close range shot .
