  1. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to harvesting a doe. Some like quantity and shoot large does, some like quality and shoot young does, some will not hesitate and harvest a fawn for their freezer (they do taste good!). To me, the best doe to shoot, is the first one that gives me the opportunity, regardless of size. However, I do try to avoid shooting fawns to prevent the harvest of a buck fawn. Good luck and be safe
  2. Nice pics, and yeah my pics are way down too. Haven't got a picture of any of my shooters in 2 weeks. This is typical for this time of the year at my place. Don't know where they go, but I'm also only covering 180 acres with 2 cams.

    Decoys

I'll start gently tickling horns together mid October and get more aggressive as we roll into Nov. I've had success with a decoy in November at my Iowa lease never tried one in NY.
  4. Yup. I agree with this... Not always possible, but maybe can try shooting for double lungs. Never had a single issue punching both lungs, and most times you get a pass through, saving your arrows. I'm struggling just to get a slick head in bow range, so congrats on the 3 deer bud!
  5. Yes I had this guy spook instantly on video setting with the bright flash at night. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. Yeah that's a good question I sent out an email to Cabela's I'll lyk when I get an answer.
  7. I thought I would share my review of this camera. I am running 3 of them since mid August. Really impressed with these new cameras, I feel they are worth the $120, with a lifetime warranty. 14 mp camera, 2 inch LCD screen, HD videos. Trigger speeds are excellent. Night pics are above average with the 40 infrared lens. No issues thus far, will see how the batteries hold up in colder weather.
  8. Yes sir.. Seen this type of behavior in early October on more than one occasion. You're not alone friend. I don't believe it's very unusual at all. I'm no professional but I believe it's all part of "pre rut" deer behavior. Young bucks sparring to establish a pecking order, and also these same bucks pushing does around here and there.
  9. My property of 183 acres is long and narrow, it's very difficulty for me to hunt an east wind because of the way my property is laid out. Every year I keep telling myself I need more stands to hunt an east wind. Wind was out of the east all weekend at my farm, I chose to hunt a different property, myself and other people I talked to saw the best deer movement between 9 and 11am Saturday and Sunday. Good luck out there let's hope we don't see a lot of East wind this year!
  10. Jeez sorry for the last couple posts my phone keeps telling me it's not connecting to my server and just went onto the forum off of Taptalk and I see my posts. Sorry guys bare with me while while I figure this stuff out. Smh
  11. I'm hardly ever home long enough to play on the home computer, but Taptalk is not working says it keeps failing to connect to this forum and to contact administrator, and I haven't figured out how to send a pic from my photobucket account to this forum on my phone. Looks like if I want to send pics I'll have do it through my home computer. But thanks for the info! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  16. New guy here my first post, thought I would share some pics of the same passion we all share on this thread. I love everything that has to do with planting food plots, land management and deer management. I own 183 acres and have been managing my land for 14 years. I recently had the opportunity to build my dream home on my property after many many years of hard work and saving. So much easier keeping up with everything living on the property! I honestly don't know how I did it living an hour away for as many years as I did. I plant approx 12 acres of food plots, broke up into 4 different areas. I also have a designated area in the center of my property that consists of about 45 acres that is designated as my sanctuay. I stand hunt only for deer and myself and my father are the only 2 who hunt the land. I hope you enjoy some of my pics and I hope you all have a successful hunting season!
