  1. No one cares, go hijack another thread with your BS, good bye.
  2. More I read your posts the more I wish there was an ignore feature to hide all posts from a user.
  3. I havent seen much for Acorn production this year. But good points, I have noticed deer pattern changes when we have these bumper crops.

  5. Or just start taking two like this guy did. If he was not guilty he would have defended him self and not tried to disappear off the site.
  6. The trophy hunting elitists crap is getting old. I agree, really old, its the only argument (a false one at that) that they can come up with. If letting a 1.5 walk is trophy killing thats news to me. Kind of sad they are opposed to letting the little ones walk.
  7. Yup, putitng more time in and being smarter... That will fix a f'd up sex ratio and immature deer population. Thanks for all of your insightful posts.
  8. I have to disagree with you there. I do think NY is the best place to hunt, and its one of the only places I do hunt. However, that law is slowly changing, more and more AR's every year based on the concerns and passion by those who would like to see a better structured deer herd and care about the betterment of the future of hunting in NY. For those that say they are "meat" hunters, why shoot a spike / 1.5 when you can only improve your meat quantities by having the opportunity to shoot larger deer? Lets say AR's are put into place in a WMU you hunt, one year you might not be able to harvest that buck (if 1.5's are all your seeing? If so, then that one year shoot a doe perhaps?) that following year those bucks have more meat.
  9. Not sure why you would resent the state, maybe you should resent the majority of the people that want AR's in place. That is why its in place right now, majority according to every single study, poll, and finding want to see the 1.5's walk, grow and mature. Why should the majority of hunters hunt the way you think is right? Let them go let them grow.
  10. Oh wow, thats great news... I wasn't sure if it was going to get done this year in time.
  11. I sent my letter of support for the AR's, the results we have seen have been larger bodied bucks. Let them go let them grow... And yes most hunters who educate themselves on the importance of a balanced herd and deer management do support AR's. Its not the best plan, however its the plan we have that the DEC can manage in large scale.
  12. Suggestion for this site, a NY Hunting club database / list and perhaps some other things. Like listing taxidermists, hunting shops, etc. Any plans on doing this? I am sure there are a lot of people in clubs or that own shops on here.
  13. Sweet! ;D Those lighted hats, are you going to sell them too? Or just for the contest? I'd buy one to support the site.
  14. I guess the PA biologists must have it all wrong when they issued it state wide. ??? "Based on data, it does not appear antler point restrictions significantly changed timing of breeding in Pennsylvania. However, antler restrictions do have other benefits. Some of which we can measure, some of which we can’t. Antler restrictions have increased buck survival, have no negative impact on genetics, increased the number of adult bucks in the harvest, and are supported by hunters. Deer, like people, benefit from a more stable social organization. Imagine if males were removed from the human world by the age of 20. How would that alter society as we know it? Prior to antler restrictions a major social component – specifically, older males – was missing from the Pennsylvania deer herd. Antler restrictions are giving us the opportunity to return adult age classes to the herd. While we cannot measure the social and behavioral benefit this type of change will have, it is difficult to argue against one existing given what is known about social structure of deer. 15. Or there is a reason for not shooting the 2.5's. They get to live, reproduce and survive another year, and potentially grow and mature. Or there is a reason for not shooting the 3.5's. They get to live, reproduce and survive another year, and potentially grow and mature. If the 1st is valid, why aren't these? Yes, you are 100% correct and I agree, and at least the current AR allows the (most) 1.5's to live on.
  16. Steve, I am not here to pick a fight, but any hunter I met, their ideals are far from harvesting 1.5 buck. As I had said in the other post, in the area I hunt and from what others that are in AR areas have expressed here they have not only seen bigger bucks they have seen more legal bucks to shoot. So the argument that it deters "first time" hunters from the sport seems like quite a week argument. And the expectation that a first time hunter to shoot a buck is ridiculous, I went over 4 years before harvesting my first buck as a hunter. 1/2 of my family lives and hunts in PA, some of these family members were against AR at first, but after a few years they realized that it not only more mature bucks, a great hunting experience, and a greater opportunity of harvesting a buck as well. I understand all ends of the arguments, I was also on that other side, until I saw the results. I respect everyones opinion, I am not bashing anyone, and I am only speaking from first hand experience and what I see. Let them go, let them grow.
  17. That seems like a great idea to me, I'll try to do it. The only issue is, where I hunt, the bars on my blackberry tend to jump from 3 bars to zero bars without even moving! I would be cool to see what everyone else is experiencing in the woods! We all have some downtime in the stand / blind from time to time.
  18. I would love for you to share those results with us as well, please let us know what happens.
  19. Scot, the thing is, even though a majority of us hunters wish to implement or practice AR that we don't have the right as majority to impose it on other hunters. Even though the world rules by majority. Its how we elect officials, presidents and put laws into effect. Its what makes the world turn. Some how rules are OK for everything else that effects our daily lives, even when its comes down to something as simple as fishing. There is a reason why you have to throw back the fish that doesn't meet the criteria. In AR area's as you know, there is a reason for not shooting the 1.5's. They get to live, reproduce and survive another year, and potentially grow and mature. How that is a bad thing is beyond me, as in the area I hunt and from what others that are in AR areas have expressed here they have not only seen bigger bucks they have seen more legal bucks to shoot. 20. Yeah, me too, thats what I figured. Its nice seeing more bucks running around because of AR. Its funny, not only are there more bucks of all ages running around, there are bigger ones too.. Go figure. Good thing there are a few spreading the facts, and talking based on first hand experience rather then from assumptions, misconceptions, and the classic brown its down mentality. Same for me too... More bucks and older bucks. Last two years have been fun.
