Got a text from my neighbor wanted to know if this was my boat tied off at my dock this morning.
I said no I have no idea who's it Is find out and let me know I said .
So can I keep it ?
If the owner does not come back right away , you think .
What are the laws about people leaving crap or parking / docking stuff on your property.

Let's you hear everything around you and protects against loud sounds
I even use it hunting.
You hear everything around you when the volume is turn up works great .

Hunter007, I believe the .30-06 lever BLR has a longer action, longer receiver and weighs more than the same rifle chambered in a short action like .308. Since you want a brush gun to be light and fast, but are looking for long range power, the .308 version would be a better choice IMHO. No real loss of power compared to a .30-06, but lighter and shorter when the two rifles are stood side by side.
Thanks didn't even see that .
Now that you mention that went back and looked .
And saw they have it in
358 win short action
Listed in same weight and shorter barrel like the 308 . looking at the numbers 358 looks awesome.
Maybe if I switch calibers I should go with that I think don't know yet , Got to go look at those again when I get a chance in the gun shop . One notable down side with the 358 win , Maybe availability of ammo in stores . But I guess I can live with that .
I'm surprised that caliber is not more popular reading about it .

The last 10 years, I have seen an explosion of New Spring Turkey Hunters out there. I think many of these new Turkey Hunters are Hardcore Deer Hunters who want to give this Spring Thing a shot. As a result-- the Birds are much more Wary on the Public lands.
I think public land spots go hot then cold in cycles.
Once word gets out guys are having success there they get busier then the places get hunted out . Hunters start to give up going to those spots and the cycle repeats .

From field to table, more give turkey hunting a shot

Seems like you would be able to spot that rack from Mile away surprised it could even get that big in the wild.

The shorter the barrel the stiffer it becomes, everything else equal the stiffer the barrel the more accurate and consistent it is. You’ll lose velocity and that will negatively impact the trajectory.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkO btw good luck on your mass hunt .

Neither, loud and big flame. If anything they kick less and stabilizing a bullet has nothing to do with barrel length.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkWhat about the accuracy ?

Trust me, from someone who loves short barrels there’s a reason why no one makes an 06 with a 16” barrel. If you think you might want a 16” barrel get a 308.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkLet me guess t kicks like mule or does not stabilize the bullet right? When you do that on 30-06 or both?

I couldn’t care any less about what you hunt with or buy but I find it hilarious that every “negative/ mixed” comment came from people whom have never killed a deer with a 44mag and every single person that commented that has killed a deer with one all gave very positive reviews.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI don't , know now, I saw blr not the takedown version in cables a few weeks ago was in 308 picked it up seemed pretty light well balanced to me .
Made me second guess myself ask my father about it he said just find one in 30-06 .Like the other hunting guns you have , he said it's more versatile and be done with it . I think I'm just going to go with the tradition deer caliber . Plus I like the fact that it has a magazine .
Seems like a better deal also more powerful gun for around same price point .
Then I guess I could do what you said and just get gunsmith to cut it down shorter to 16 anyway if I want.
It's all good .

First off how would one know you wanted that model you never stated that anywhere... 2nd you went from a lever carbine to a 30-06 lol
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkWas not important just wanted to know 44 mags killing power at moderate ranges for deer in a rifle .
Didn't think it was important to mention I wanted a takedown.
all the negative / mixed comments talked me out of it basically , the 44 mag .

What do you mean they don’t chamber what you want in that model? 30/30 is the chamber no trhr model
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalkhttps://www.taylorsfirearms.com/long-guns/cartridge-rifles/1892-alaskan.html
Wanted that make and model
Only comes in 357 and 44
Then they make another version in 45-70 that's a take down that's it .
I'm just going with the Browning blr takedown in 30-06 plus I like the fact that it has a magazine .
Not as light and short as I would of liked but it is what it is .

There is no way I'd recommend it to anyone for ANY deer hunting situation in comparison to the scores of much better calibers available. Plus, go to a Walmart or somewhere else if you were in a pinch for some extra hunting ammo for it. Good luck.
After reading all this and other articles I have decided just to get what I know the most about 30-06 and get it in the blr takedown .
Not as light or compact but better then what I got now still
I suppose I could get it cut to 16 later on by a gunsmith if I want anyway .
Now to find one physically in a store just to see what I'm buying that is a different story
Went to 3 different gun shops and nobody has one in stock they can order it of course.
But I like to check it out to make sure its what I want first .

Bro it’s a muzzleloader you don’t even need to fill out a NICS check to buy it
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYea I know but the same thing happened when I bought a crossbow and airguns online.
Every time same crap
And it even looked like they opened the box to see what the f it was one time .
A lot of that stuff finds it's way in NYC I think before going out to different parts of the state .
I bet its something to do with that causes the delays. Plus the online shipper may be double checking rules and laws in new york . Has to be one or the other or both at least that's been my experience.
-
My guess is online shippers are extra cautiou when shipping anything to New York that's a weapon because of all the bs exstra regulations they have here .

So I would like the opinion of the group on this one, so I ordered a new Muzzleloader online last night. Yes on thanksgiving. I decided I wanted it ASAP so i can sight in while at camp for work next week. I decided to pay for overnight shipping $90. Now I get it I ordered on Thursday a holiday and it’s not coming Friday I’m 100% ok with that. I just got tracking info and it says it’s shipping out Monday and I will be getting it Tuesday. To me this is complete horse shit. It should have shipped today and I should be getting it tomorrow. Even Monday I wouldn’t complain. But for me to pay for overnight shipping and get it 5 days later is insane.

Yea bro I noticed this myself anytime you are dealing with ordering weapons online for some reason there is always a hold up at least that's my experience always ships a little late from what they say .

Any local guys remember this chaos?
City of Buffalo and Thruway was a gridlock mess.....Strom dropped 2 feet in 24 hrs. And hit hard mid-day.
I was just telling my wife I was at Canisius College and we were preparing to go on Thanksgiving break so all we had was beer and minimal food in the fridge......so my housemate and played 1 vs. 1 beer pong and ended up participating in a 100 person snowball fight later that night.....them were the days.
Found a few photos of the golf dome on wherle going down......TF were you shoveling in this pic?

Cool. Where can I get other charts like these. That one looks like it's for a 22 caliber.
Yes that's for 223
Here is the article
https://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/ar-15-barrel-twist-explained/
You will have to search around for other calibers but I'm sure there are charts for just about every common caliber out there .
