VIDEO: Deer Decoy Bow Hunt In Multi-View
TheFieldArcher replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in Bow Hunting
The decoy did not bring them in, it is legal to bait in NJ... but a food plot serves the same purpose and I think you will get the same results with a decoy in a food plot, the attention is on the decoy and their curiosity gets them moving around it slowly giving the hunter different angles... but I only hunted with it 2 times in 1 location. So far it is working well and I will be hunting my target buck with it starting tomorrow... a number of bucks in this spot so I hope to get some footage with it and get more experience and information for those interested. I was also thinking to mount a GoPro on the decoy... don't mind me, I had 4 cameras going in this video... I had 5 going when I shot my #2 target buck and I am just thinking how to make taking my #1 target buck a little better than the last if the chance presents itself. -
VIDEO: Deer Decoy Bow Hunt In Multi-View

I am not with Tink's, I am actually trying this for the first time and I put the scent out to see what would happen if a buck came in (I already filled my fall buck tag) and if a doe presented a shot, I wanted to make another donation to NJ's Hunters Helping The Hungry. Where the video was taken is not where my target buck is... I will be out with the decoy trying for my target buck tomorrow as extended season just opened with a new buck tag! Video is for anyone thinking about using a deer decoy. -
Thanks guys! No, I donated her to Hunters Helping The Hungry. I plan on leaving it outside. It blows up quickly too.

I already filled my NJ buck tag and I have some nice bucks still on trail cam and November 1st starts extended bow season and a new buck tag! I wanted to try a decoy this rut and I heard that decoys also work on doe. So I ordered up a Tink's Miss November decoy and I wanted to see how the deer reacted to it before I tried it at my other spot where my target buck is. Here is a pic from the first day, these youngsters came in and were very comfortable with their new mom! The next day it was "game on" and the decoy worked great! All of the attention of the deer was on the decoy, awesome! With all of the attention on the decoy, I was able to take my time and make a quick ethical kill! She didn't run far at all! It was an awesome Halloween hunt and I can't wait to try Miss November out on my target buck! Here is footage from 1 of 5 cameras I had rolling... full video to follow!

Wow, that is special, you can change your string... is that something only Excalibur can do? You new to crossbows? What if there was a crossbow that has 100 LB limbs and shoots 340 FPS and could change the string??? what if there was a crossbow and it also has a model with 150 LB limbs that shoots 400 FPS... both 100 & 150 models have Barnsdale limbs and is built with titanium fasteners and has the best trigger on the market...

Your comment to the OP "Should have bought a Recurve Excalibur with no cams"... so, you have the loudest crossbow made, yes, Excalibur makes the loudest crossbows and compare their limb weight to speed ratio to compound crossbows and stopping all of that weight, it's gotta be loud! Now for your Excalibur trigger... check out this thread by a Excal fan, guy has multiple Excals and all the Ecal owners chime in how disappointed they are with having to replace triggers. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2302313 Excal trigger recall: http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/content/safety_notice OP is looking for help and you bash him with "Should have bought a Recurve Excalibur with no cams"...

Crossbow Review: Scorpyd Ventilator

Are they shipping those with ear protection now? Excaliburs have to draw 3X the weight to achieve compound speeds, all that weight, guess that is why Excalibur has so many trigger issues? OP if nobody has one here, check here: http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/contact-us

You get what you pay for and especially in compound crossbow, you are not getting anything close to quality in strings and cables and as soon as they stretch, there goes your timing!!! If possible, spend a little more and at least get yourself a Wicked Ridge, you will be glad you did!

One happy bowhunter!!!

My son got his first deer with the bow! Awesome getting out with the kids and I am a super proud dad!!! No tracking, only ran about 20 yards!

Awesome hunt and it was made very interesting with the sun shining through on my camera screens so I had to get some extra movement in to make sure I had my target in frame! You can see my hand shaking, the glare was unreal! LOL... it made just a tad more challenging... if working 5 cameras wasn't enough, let's throw in some sun glare! But in the end, it was an incredible hunt and all of the footage on every camera came out great!

1 during fall bow, 1 during permit and 1 winter bow... so 3 for bow. Thank you! Thank you!
