Hi Everyone, It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!! best of holiday wishes!

Are you an outdoorsman? Do you hunt frequently? Do you experience the struggles of lifting your deer, elk, bear, or other kill onto your truck, ATV, or Gator? We’d like to interest you in our hunting hoist. My sons and I also had these problems. I created a solution with my portable hoist system. Our simple to use design allows flexibility to your hunt that other hoists can’t compare to. Simply attach our hoist to a tree, tie up the feet, crank the line, and you’re on your way! Check out what other customers had to say at http://huntersportablehoist.webs.com/testimonials where you can also find easy to view tutorials. For more information, please contact me, James Owen, at [email protected].

Hey, I know it's late into the season for this but I'm just feeling it out for the future. I'm new to hunting, and I live in Brooklyn. I have a couple of friends in 3s that hunt but its not that easy to coordinate with them. Anybody closer to Brooklyn that would possibly be looking to partake when possible. I have no problem traveling a bit if timing is right. I also own a trailer in nj that is about 15 minutes from Orange County and from what I heard there is state land there but I have no information about it. Oh btw I have bow and I'm In the process of going through the nyc process in order to be able to purchase a firearm. Hoping to lease some land next season if a good group forms. good luck out there tomorrow and every other day. Thanks

Hello all, I want to get into hunting with a rifle But I live in NYC. As most of you may or may not know, Its impossible to own a firearm in NYC. I was wondering if i got a hunting license would that allow me to purchase a hunting rifle? or would I have to go through the impossible steps to get a permit for a long gun? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

For the past couple of days I have been looking at many different bolt action rifles. Everyone i came to seem to be some what the same, but there were some difference. I lloked at the Sako A7, Winchester 70, remington 700, savage 110, ruger m77 and browning X-bolt and i was wondering which one is the better gun to go with?

I had a guy take a shot in camp after "unloading his gun" and putting the fire arm in his truck bed rack. As he put the gun in the rack he pulled the trigger and fired a round up in the air... This was his 1st and last year at my camp. I give people a chance and had a heated argument with the "new guy" about hunting and patterning deer in the ADK the 2nd day in camp. He had a argument with another hunter that came later in the week and with the person who invited him. I could have forgiven all that, but when I was informed of the accident AFTER he left the camp, I let everyone know that was his last strike. He will never stay at my camp again. No place for complacancy at deer camp when handleing fire arms. Hunt hard and be safe!!! My question to other hunters is what accidents have you had and where do you draw the line. I will start to have younger hunters coming up to our camp in two years and will not tolerate any complacancy when handleing a gun. Call me safe but anyone who fires a round off by accident is not a person I want to hunt with... And I do not see myself giving this person a 2nd chance as he was supposed to be a hunter with close to 30 years under his belt. PS: This guy was a compulsive liar, stating he shot more than 300 deer and telling me how he was above me at 2900 feet when I informed him I was at 2800 and telling me his GPS clocked over 28 miles in 3 days. All of which I disproved on the spot...
