Anyone have experince with keeping water in a55 gallon drum fresh for a couple of days maybe a week? It would only be used for washing and showers. Maybe chlorine tablet or some other product.

Along the same lines as clorine you can use bleach. Don't over do it though.

A cap full of bleach can kill the bacteria in a gallon of water. You can do the math for 55 gallons.

Depends on if you are talking rain water that was collected,or water that was brought from home or delivered. The later would be chrlorinated if city water and should be fine if kept covered and out of the sun. Otherwise,pour some bleach in it. But remember for long term storage,that chlorine will go away after time.

That's understood,but after it sits in the sun for a week,it starts growing things and I wouldn't want to wash my body with it,lol.

Then go jump in a lake if it makes ya feel better,lol.

I may know a few gals willing to go skinny dippin' in a 5 gal. bucket with ya....., no questions asked of what's growing in there!

You can keep water for quite a while in food grade containers. Much longer then a week.
