Hello everyone great site you have here and looking forward to doing lots of reading and sharing stories!

I am an avid turkey hunter and working on my slam. So far I have my eastern & osceola. Planning to head to Nebraska & Kansas in the spring.

But of course we have the fall hunt so I am dreaming of October and was thinking of trying to hunt St. Lawrence county for some birds.

I am fron Ottawa, Ontario which is close to the border about 2 hrs.

I was wondering if anyone would care to share any info to give me some ideas etc. I am willing to drive where ever and would prefer a 2 bird limit.

Just looking for do it yourself type of hunt etc.any help would GREATLY be appreciated. Willing to sleep in truck if necessary!!

Thanks.

Mark

I admire your enthusiasm..You remind me of myself when I was younger..

Perhaps some of our north country members can steer you in the right direction. My daughter lives near Potsdam and I have seen birds in the area, but I don't have any hunting connections there..I suspect there is a fair amount of public land in that area. Also, turkey hunting permission is usually easier to get permission on private land than deer hunting.. You might spend a weekend driving around and knocking on doors to ask permission and find some property to hunt..

Good luck on your slam...Merriams in Nebraska and Rios in Kansas ?...

Thanks for the reply Pygmy, yes merriams NE and Rios in KS. Will be hunting public land there also so I am hoping it won't be a bust!

No harm in knocking on doors and I may just end up doing that.

I am almost 49 now so not so young anymore. Just still crazy enough to do any of it! B)

you may want to contact the dec in the area you plan to hunt, they might be able to set you up with landowners they themselves deal with or put you on the best plot of public land . list of offices are available on dec website.
