Stewart State park

Anyone hunting pheasants at Stewart ? Are there many birds there? Do you check in before you can hunt? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

state stocks every couple of weeks,maybe clubs still stock quail & pheasant,

have not been there lately

Raymerlo is right, it gets stocked. Last few times I was there( past 2 years) I didn't see anything but there are a lot of guys with dogs hunting so it can't be all that bad. You don't have to check in but make sure you park in a designated spot.

My cousin was there last week with his dogs. Kicked up 6 pheasants shot 2 cock birds. Also kicked up a quail. Make sure you park in a space.

I use to hunt that area a lot back in the 80's. Shot my first male wood duck there. One year when I was pheasant hunting on the hill side, Air Force One with Ronald Reagan on board flew over me while taking off from Stewart. That plane was so low I could see the pilots faces.

Place is loaded with squirrels. Didn't see any rabbit or pheasants that day.

Sorry i cant help you out. I was there pre storm - mid-October. I'm sure it got a good share of downed trees & such. Im sure they\ll get the roads cleared in due order.
