No mount with it. I just used a scope ring and mounted it to a universal rail.

How effective yardage wise would you say the light is?

It's plenty for .22mag range(max 100yds.). I use it for a kill light, meaning I turn it on to make a positive ID and shoot. I scan with a handheld light with a red filter.
