Is a background check still required on guns as old as the Springfields?

Starting today you need check for any sale, NY SAFE act kicks in today with some provisions....I know it sucks

It seems like the damned thing just contradicts itself. Just called the Dutchess County Sheriff-they think it's total nonsense.

 If I want to give my 10 yr old grandson my 50 yr old Red Rider BB gun do we both need a background check?  I do know he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar & taking money out of his piggy bank a few times! He cannot be trusted!   (stupid a$$ laws)

read the link posted above. the only people exempt from background checks are spouse, children and step children. basically family members. its all in the link

Read with interest the comment about Dutchess Co. Sheriff......I suspect most county sherriffs will react the same way.  It is the State Police, Andy' lackeys, that we must worry about.  They have already pulled off one sting operation in the Buffalo area.
