I planted my corn last weekend because it was suppose to rain this week.  I didn't realize how much rain we would be getting!!!  Is it possible to have too much rain?  I would hate for the corn seed to not germinate and I am not able to back up for a couple of weeks.  Should I be worried???

I would say that you timed it just right..  Too much rain can be a problem, but I am not sure we are in that situation (unless your part of the state has received a lot more rain than we have got in WNY)...

I would expect that once the temp rises again on Tuesday, you should see the corn start to sprout..  It doesn't take long, assuming the right PH level and right amount of fertilizer.

Makes you appreciate how tuff the life of a farmer is..  Being dependant on Mother Nature is a tuff gig!!

Good luck..

Any thoughts guys?  I planted it May 18th and was just wondering how long it would take to germinate with the weather that we've been having?

corn is quite heat sensitive , generally the warmer the weather corn does better , as far as rain , we need it unless you have had so much the seed can rot in the ground , but usually it will come up one to two weeks after planting. it is always  a good feeling when it comes good. it really hurts if it freezes off with seed prices in the two hundred  dollar range.  good luck !
