anyone have any good piers on long island catching fish now? want to go fishing but want to catch some nice fish only have the pier... no boat yet that is.

There's the pier at jones beach and also at cap tree. Should be some fluke, robins, and maybe some snappers this time of year.

any idea on what? spearing and squid?

Stop at a local bait shop, they will tell you where to go and what to use.  Most are very friendly and have the inside scoop on what is biting.

The fluke will always be on the spearing, but can be caught on squid, bunker, shrimp, clam, etc.

But word on the street is, spearing supply is short.

If fluke is your target, go out there with a couple buck tails and throw on a Gulp! Mullet and bounce it along the sand.
