No firearms on SUNY ESF lands

Well with the passage of the NY Safe Act it just removed 5000 acres of hunting land for the Northern Hunters You can not hunt these with a firearm anymore Specifically, the 2,500-acre Pack Forest Demonstration Area in Warrensburg as well as the 2,800-acre Dubuar Memorial Forest

As I understand it that law has always been there. They just now noticed it. I actually think that if this is a result of the Safe Act that it's only because it prompted someone to look closer at the laws and discover it had been illegal all along.

Well... It hasn't ALWAYS been there. but it isn't new with the Safe Act. Language is a tricky thing.

That was one of the benefits of going to the Ranger School was we could hunt the Dubuar forest.  Killed a few snowshoes, partridge, and had close encounters with coyotes there.  Good spot for deer too when you had to much work to drive home for the weekend and hunt.

So is it basically just the lands in the Adirondacks?  ESF has land in CNY, just south of Syracuse in Tully, and LaFayette.  Alot of it is surrounded by both DEC land and private lands.
