growalot
Well today I pulled the cam over the scrape...not a single buck ...but a parade of doe and one doe bedded 2ft off the scrape...but two doe stopped infront of the camera and rub urinated over their hocks...I'm telling you one went to town so hard I thought she'd manage a spark...lol...I'd try to figure out how to post it but...walking on concrete wore me out.... ...no concentration left in me..but I also found my first rub 15ft from a woodland stand...any how.... doe rub urinating...things will be heating up fast around here...neither had fawn around...all others had twins and the triplets still in tow...noticed a stand off our border managed to creep a few trees closer....guess what area I'll be hunting...lol... PS...I've had 3 stands and 2 blinds there for many...many years...way before this one showed up 3 years ago Edited October 17, 2013 by growalot
phade
Informal observation, but sometimes scrapes will be made around doe bedding areas. Does going into heat may actually seek out active scrapes according to some studies I have read that challenged the premise that bucks are the only ones who will actively seek out the other sex during the rut. phade
I'm not a big time scrape hunter, but will have a handful of sits around the right ones (hopefully). Sitting one after a storm is a very good idea.
Five Seasons
I have a great pic of a doe hitting a scrape and the licking branch. I like scrape hunting to a point.
