bnola
Hi guys, I just recently moved here from Louisiana "the sportsmans paradise". I live in Brookly and never really considered doing any hunting while I was up here. I have a large lease in Louisiana that I can usually harvest about 5-8 deer a year off of. It seems I won't be able to take the time off to fly back home for my hunts. So here I am looking for help from the NY pros.
Elmo
Welcome to NYC and welcome to the forum. Once you leave the sportsman's paradise you're obviously going to be some what disappointed with the hunting most anywhere else you go. Still, crowded as it might be, there are lands you can hunt near NYC. Check DEP Watershed lands. Also go to DEC website and download their GoogleMap plugins to get state land listings. Each parcel of land has their own separate rules on top of any state and county rules so if you're not sure, call DEC to double-check. For example, some lands out in Long Island which should be close to you have a check-in system. I live in the Bronx so I don't really hunt Long Island. I usually head up to Westchester, Putnam, or Orange county.

I know I may be late in the season to start to scout for areas, but I'm willing to try. If you ever need another guy in Westchester to tag along for a hunt I'm your guy. Although only thing I have here is my bow due to the very strict gun laws here where I live. That being said I'm lethal inside of 50 yds. New York Hillbilly
Being away from home is tough for sure. Especially this time of year for those of us with the hunting tradition. I'm only about 4 hours from my real home but it is hard at times. Had to be quite a job offer to drag you from a lovely swamp to a concrete jungle. Lol! I sure hope it was worth it. Anyway, welcome aboard and hopefully visiting this site will help fill the void. Peace
