TeeBugg
Got about 15 left and wondering what everyones thoughts were about them. 50 cal 240 grain. Im shooting a cva kodiak magnum and thinking im gonna shoot 100 or 150 hogdon pellets with them. Any pros cons?
bubba
I shoot the xtp 240 grain not nag and they are deadly on deer. I do not think you will have any problems with them.
TeeBugg
Ill probably stick with 50 yard shots until i get a scope on it. Do they have decent penetration? Just wondering if this will be like my deer slug and let loose all the energy inside the deer...which is actually what im hoping for
ncountry
That is what I shoot as well. Seems to hit them pretty well for a muzzleloader. I have had both pass- through and shots that expended all of their energy on the deer. Longest shot with my encore was 150-160 yds with 100 grains of pyr..pellets. She never made it out of the field (less than 100 yds). Seems like the closer they are the more the bullet expands and imparts more energy to the deer my pass through shots have all been longer. Coincidence?
cdmckane
XTP's are deadly. Just a heads up, they're cheaper if you buy the Hornady brand (Hornady makes TC ammo) from Bass Pro and the sabots from either MMP or Harvester. I use the black MMP sabot with my XTP's. I've also found better and more consistent performance from loose 777 powder vs pellets. You shouldn't have to use 150gr of powder. 100 gr will push any bullet fast enough to be deadly out to 100+ yds (I'll shoot them to 200 with 100gr). TeeBugg
Good info. Thanks everyone! Ill probably try 100grain first and run thru what i have left of the sabots and bullets.
nys-buckstalker
Good bullet. Haven't had any issues with them. Expand well and drops a lot of energy in animal. Thou my rifle prefers 90 grains of pyrodex rs over the pellets. You shouldn't have a problem with them.
