early bow in northern zone?

I was told over the weekend that there may not be early bow for the northern zone next year? Any one else hear this, true or not true?

One of the proposals with the change in the license structure and prices was to have the license year run from September 1 to August 31 vs October 1 to September 30 as it has been.  One of the reasons is because you need last years tag for early bear and archery in the NZ.  So I don't believe the start date would change, you just wouldn't be able to fill last years tag the last 4 days of Sept. like previously.  I haven't heard much on this recently though.  Maybe someone will jump in that knows more.

Oh wow that really sucks if you ask me.My first trip of the year is the 4 days using last years tags.I don't have a ton of luck but its gets all the gear in order and is one of my favorite trips of the year.Hopefully someone else can shed some light on this subject

That is the plan and to switch the 4 days to that years tags. You will still be able to hunt those days with new tags. Just 4 days earlier. Plus fishing licenses will be valid for one year from date of purchase

I hear ya.  And actually it has never been early bow it is late bow.  late season for the tags.  I personally expect them to eliminate those 4 days in the next couple years and start on 10/1

If they do they do.I like it the way it is but around the area I hunt most(7A) they need to do something different I feel.

I think they may end up starting it earlier eventually with the change. Maybe it will coincide with early bear.

That would be awesome!!!I love going to camp that week.hunt the morning and afternoon and have 4-5 hours between the hunts to do some work around camp,lounge around,trout fish or whatever the heck you want to do.Its become a ritual every year for a few of us

Gun season in the Southern Zone is definitely too long! Probably half the reason everyone is on here saying they had a crappy year. I don't know how any deer survive the month long gun season!

I don't hear anyone complaining that the bow season is to long in the northern zone.  We generally get about 3 weeks and we share one of those weeks with the muzzleloaders.

I appreciate your input, but If they want to change it to 10/1 for consistency throughout the state why not line up the firearms start dates too?

that might have a negative.... regional .......financial impact...Guys that travel north to fill last years tags...would just stay home to fill their tags

Change is good as long as they are making them for the right reasons.
