turkeyfeathers
How is everyone doing with them this year ? We have 2 and sometimes 1 that comes in to get chased off by the other two. They love the bee balm and feeder. Bought my wife years ago a nice hand blown glass feeder. They never used it, just the cruddy plastic one. Brother has about 6-7 all the time that get into aerial combat. Wife was stopped at a red light yesterday and spotted one buzzed around the red light itself. Neat little creatures. Can't believe how far they fly to migrate though.
adkbuck
We a have a few buzzing around. My wife puts out the red things with sugar water. The are great fun to watch.. Every once in a while one gets into the garage and seems clueless on how to get out even with the garage door wide open. Comforting to see another creature besides myself come into a room and buzz around forgetting why he is there. I usually have to catch them with a fishing net and release them. I realize I may be interfering with the process of natural selection. Edited July 21, 2014 by adkbuck
wooly
Haven't seen as many around the yard as in years past so I never even got the feeder out. Plenty of their favorite flowers out as usual but it never brought them in this year. Seeing quite a few in the fields lately though now that the thistle and burdocks are getting purple tops. Deerthug
Had a few come around my yard and feed from my feeder. I started growing a Clematis vine with purple flowers indoors in April and it just bloomed last weekend. Hoping it will attract more of those lttle buzzing birds. They represent eternal life and good health. Edited July 22, 2014 by Deerthug
