Hey all,
I have a darton 300wx. It was my first bow back when i first started hunting around 16-17. I have only been out about 3 seasons though and havent had much luck.

I am posting this to find out if anyone else has had or knows anyone that has used this bow. It is an old bow, not sure exactly when it was made. I put a few things on to quite her up as she was pretty loud when releasing the arrow. Here is a link to dartons catalog, it is on the first page with specs to it. http://issuu.com/cteall/docs/1990-cat

Any thoughts, ideas, concerns etc are welcome.

Hey, I'm not too familiar with Dartons, but if I were in your shoes, and a new bow is not on your radar.....

How old is the string and cables?  I work with a guy who bought a used bow, and it was loud when he shot it.  He had a new string and cable set installed and he said it made the bow much more quiet.  Then make sure the bow is tuned to you, thats probably the biggest thing that will help.

You can add the "limb savers" to the limbs, and string silencers...but they are marginal at best for noise reduction IMO.

If you are handy at all, you could try to incorporate a string stopper, much like many of the new bows have.  From what I can see in the photos of the link you provided, your bow doesnt have a threaded hole inside the riser below the grip.  You would probably have to get creative and make a "wrap around" bracket that attached to the stabilizer.  I have seen guys make string stops over on Archerytalk.com in the DIY section.

Hope this helps.

I have had it for years now, so its pretty well tuned for myself. I have a few goodies on it, a truglo stabilzer, a few string silencers. Its not to loud but compared to modern bows it is. I had the strings done about 2 years ago, could have them done again. Here are some pics.
