Where to hunt?

Hi guys, this is my first season hunting (aside from a few rabbit and coyote hunts last season and one turkey hunt).  I live in Albany county and cannot find a good spot to hunt, I'm interested in getting after rabbit, turkey, grey squirrel, deer, and once I have a good handle on that I'd like to get after some black bear and duck.  I've been out for rabbit and squirrel about 15 times this year without much success.  I've seen 3 squirrels which I didn't have a clean shot at and zero rabbits.  Stomping around briar patches for 5 hours without results gets frustrating quickly.  I've been to Louise Keir in Ravena and Partridge Run in Berne, I also have access to some private land in Thurman, but haven't seen anything and there wasn't much in the way of sign when there was snow on the ground last winter.  I'd really appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of some good public land, I badly want to be a successful hunter but it's difficult when where you are the game aint.  Thanks.

Edit to add-  I don't know anyone who owns land to hunt on.

Hi and welcome to the forum walt. Partridge run is a lot of land and has all the game you mentioned. I know some guys that do quite well over there. And it's nowhere near as crowded as it was in years past. There is another spot too, take rt.443 through East Berne, go to cole hill rd.get to top of the hill and take right and stop. Parking will be on your right. This state land will get you back aways and not too crowded. I dont remember the name but you should do ok there too.Good luck!

Thanks for the tip.  Have you had success with rabbit with any specific spots in Partridge Run? map_007420_large.png
